Struggling with Work Life Balance? Relax! These 4 Clever Tricks Will Get You Back on Track!

Do you struggle to find a healthy balance between work and home? Are you run off your feet looking after the family? Has the word balance slipped from your vocabulary?

Yes? Yes? Yes?

It can be difficult to squish everything you need to do into your day, whilst playing Super Mum for the kids and holding down a career.

De-cluttering your life physically and mentally, may be the break you need to find and restore this elusive balance.

For many people, physical clutter can be the tipping point for stress. You know how it is. You wake up in the morning to find your kids’ toys spread across the family room floor, towels thrown in all directions across the bathroom, maybe even a wardrobe you haven’t seen the back of for years.

This disorder may be placing more havoc into your life than you realise, which is why it’s time for it to go!

Take control of your home by spending a couple of hours every weekend – just for the next few weeks – organising and sorting any clutter that has accumulated. Focus on one room in your home each week and only spend a couple of hours sorting. This way you’ll stay motivated to pick the job up again the following weekend.

It’s a good idea to have plenty of garbage bags and a ruthless attitude on hand. As a general rule, if you haven’t used or worn something for six months it’s time to send it to the trash or donate to charity.

Once your home is sorted, it’s time to work on developing healthy habits into your family life.

Do you ever feel that you spend too much time at work? Perhaps you feel that you’re neglecting your family; this can happen no matter your circumstance, happily employed or expert stay at home mum.

One handy habit to get into is organising your family time the same way you organise your work life. This can be achieved in a number of ways. Utilise a diary or family planner to schedule everyone’s movements and events. Once this is listed look for opportunities to incorporate family time into the schedule.

You could organise regular movie nights, family picnics, epic baking or cooking sessions, essentially any activity that allows you to connect with your family gets the green light.

[mc_block_title custom_title=”3. Save dollars to splurge with the family”]

Just like going to work, your home life functions well with goals and motivation. Consider setting up a family savings or ‘fun’ bank account. Figure out a reasonable amount to deposit each week or month and maintain these deposits over time. Think of this as your key to frivolous outings or adventure. Use all funds that are deposited into this account for family activities or holidays and for only these purposes!

Parents will do anything for their children. They’ll spend hours trying to find sneaky ways to fill their kids’ dinner plates with unsuspicious looking vegetables, or happily encourage them to spend time outdoors being active.

But why don’t all parents show the same enthusiasm or respect for their own health?

One of the first healthy habits to disappear as life gets busier is exercise. Are you guilty of this? Or do you know someone else who is? After a long day, no one wants to lace up their runners and hit the footpath, but we all should!

Exercise is one of those beautiful things that can help both physically and mentally. The endorphin rush that raising your heartbeat a couple of times a week brings can give you the power to tackle life head on. You don’t need to start training for a marathon, instead get outdoors and go for a walk, take the family with you, or do a yoga class with your girlfriends.

A few days in you’ll find yourself with more energy and a zest for life. Do you really need any more of a reason?

Finding balance between your work life and family life doesn’t need to be as difficult as it appears. Healthy habits are everywhere if you know where to look and their opportunities are limitless.
