Masport Pty Ltd have issued a lawnmower recall on their Masport Lawnmowers fitted with an MSV blade disc cutting system.
The affected models have a serial number 7545492 to 7791051.
What are the defects?
If the blade disc system becomes damaged, or is not correctly maintained, the blade disc system can become out of balance, creating excessive vibration which may cause the blade disc to fracture.
This means the blade disc may detach from the engine. If the blade disc exits the mower housing this potentially poses a serious laceration hazard to bystanders.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should take their mower to their nearest Masport dealer for installation of an anti-vibration washer, and replacement of the blade disc if required.
The product was most likely sold at Bunnings, Specialist mower dealers and Harvey Norman nationwide between 2 July 2012 – 31 March 2014.
