It feels like this Winter has been going forever doesn’t it? Well, the weather is FINALLY warming up and we can start thinking about shedding our winter woollies… but what do we replace them with?
Whether it’s one significant piece or just a couple of small additions, it’s nice to do a little wardrobe update for each new season but we know it’s often a struggle to know which ‘look’ is going to be the best option.
We’ve done some groundwork for you and put together 4 key trends, that won’t break the bank, for you to plan your spring/summer wardrobe updates.
The Wide-Legged Trouser or Palazzo Pant
These pants are very cool and very flattering, provided you find the right cut. Super comfortable, they can be worn casually with slides or dress them up with a pair of heels. Don’t shy away from them if you are short! Just make sure the flare isn’t too wide and that they are fitted well as the waist. They looks great balanced out with a slim-fitting, or crop top but a long tunic will work too. And if you’re a curvalicious lady you should look for light-weight fabrics to allow for more draping.
Our favourite picks from Country Road, Veronica Maine and Target are:
MESH
Mesh is the perfect tran-seasonal wardrobe item. Layered over heavier basics on cold days or over a skimpy camisole or patterned bra [ooh la la!] when the weather is warm. Adding a few mesh pieces to your wardrobe will give it a quick and easy on-trend lift that doesn’t have to break the bank!
A couple of easy pieces from Witchery and Big W are:
The Collarless Coat
Classy but perfect for a casual outfit too, these coats are a must-have addition to your spring/summer wardrobe. They can be worn over a dress, with a pair of jeans or even with your new wide-legged pants! They will look great paired with a light-weight knit on cooler days/nights or with a slouchy tee if it’s a bit warmer.

Colour Trends
If you’re not keen on any of the new season styles, then just give your wardrobe an easy colour update. This spring/summer there are three key colour trends that will freshen up any outfit.
B&W
Black and white or monochrome is still very on trend and easy to work into your existing wardrobe. In fact, I’m SURE you already have many pieces in each colour. The trick is to wear them together!
We LOVE this Julia Stripe long sleeve dress from French Connection! It’s on trend, easy to wear and so flattering. Wear it with a flat slide for a casual look or put on a pair of heels to dress it up a bit.
However, if a dress is not your thing, then this sensational tote from Target will do the trick!
Pretty Pastels
What you may not have in your wardrobe are some candy coloured pastel pieces. Think gorgeous mint and pale pink. It’s really easy to pop some of this colour into your daily rotation. Try t-shirts, summer scarves, skinny jeans or even a knit.
This textured hooded parka from Country Road is on my splurge wishlist. ADORE!
Daytime Metallics
Metallics are all the rage at the moments and feature in jackets and tops and even pants. But we know it can be hard to wear for some during the day so we recommend a subtle addition like a gorgeous pair of summer slides or some funky sparkly sneakers. The bonus of a shimmering accessory is that it can take you from day to night!
