Hollywood couple Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have split after eight years of marriage.
The actors, who have a four-year-old son named Jack, announced the end of their marriage in a joint statement on social media yesterday.
The pair, who married in Bali in 2009 after meeting on the set of  flick Take Me Home Tonight, said they will “continue to have the deepest respect” for each other.
“We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward,” the couple said, in a statement on Pratt’s Facebook page.
Faris made a similar statement on her own Instagram page. “We still love each other and will always cherish our time together,” she wrote.
News of the split, which has shocked fans, came only weeks after Pratt declared his love  for his “beautiful” wife and kid in a sweet Mother’s Day Facebook post. Jack is their only child and spent a month in the hospital special care nursery after arriving more than two months early back in August 2012.
“A big Mother’s Day kiss and hug across the pond to my darling wife @annafaris and our sweet boy. I miss you both so much. I love you,” he wrote.
Less than three months later – and only weeks before their son’s fifth birthday – the couple are calling it quits.
