How can you be 100 per cent sure that you’ve selected the right name for your little one?Â
You can’t. But what you can do is wait a little while, get to know your newborn, and then decide if the name fits.
This is what Megan Gale and Shaun Hampson did with their brand new squishy sweetheart, who, a week after birth, has finally got her name.
Meet Rosie May Dee Hampson.Â
A Rosie by any other name…
Megan, 42, explains the meaning behind the name (and the delay in selecting it) in an Instagram post late yesterday, featuring her little flower.
“We were lucky we had so many great names for this little girl. We just wanted to be really sure that it was the one for her. This was a name I had really liked initially when I was pregnant , Shaun wasn’t a fan so I’d crossed it off the list and we focused only on one other name that we both liked. Then when she was born Shaun said she really suited Rosie but we still weren’t 100% and also still keen on some of the other names too. Talk about indecisiveness!
“Yesterday we stared long and hard at her while she was snoozing and it just all came together. No other name seemed to suit her more than Rosie.
“Rosie is a nod to my Nana (Dad’s Mum, Rosella), May is my Mum’s name, Dee is Shaun’s Mum’s name and obviously Hampson, the family name from Tom, Shaun’s Dad.”
The nature-inspired name is a beautiful one indeed. And worth the wait in the big reveal!
Rosie and River
Rosie is the second Hampson baby to have not only an earthy feel to it, but also one with family connections.
The couple named their son, born in 2014, River Alan Thomas Hampson, explaining “Rivers [sic] is my Mum’s maiden name, Alan after my Dad, Thomas for Shaun’s Dad and the last name just like his Daddy’s.”
Rosie and River. It doesn’t get any sweeter than that!
