This is the frightening moment a mum drove off in her car with a young child on her roof.
Passers-by spotted the woman driving with a child on her roof on Friday and frantically tried to raise the alarm.
Other drivers beeped their horns and flashed their lights to try and get her attention. She eventually stopped. Surveillance video shows the child, believed to be only four years old, clinging to the roof of the car for at least 10 minutes.
A wild ride
The four-year-old was wearing only a nappy as the woman drove along the Tonkin Highway, between the suburbs of Camillo and Harrisdale, in Western Australia. The speed limit on that road is 100km/h.
Mum Central believes the mum told authorities she did not know the child was on the roof. But claims have now emerged that she has driven with a child that way before.
Witnesses told 9News the child “seemed fine and looked like he was enjoying himself”.
But another witness told reporters they felt “sick to the stomach” when they saw the child on the car.

Dangerous driving charges
Police found the silver Holden Captiva driving into a petrol station on Nicholson Road, Harrisdale. There were two other children in the car.
“Police observed three children in the car, two secured in child restraint seats however it will be alleged that a four-year-old boy was unrestrained,” a police spokesperson said.
Mum Central understands a 36-year-old Perth woman is likely to be charged on summons with offences including dangerous driving. She will appear in court at a later date.
