You know when you hit that point where cleaning the floors just feels endless? That’s been me for years. Between my black greyhound (who insists on shedding fur on every square inch of my light grey tiles), two teenage boys who are (let’s be honest) mess magnets, and constant spills, crumbs, and muddy footprints, I felt like I was always chasing my tail and vacuuming or mopping daily. Honestly, it felt like a never-ending cycle. Then I met the Narwal Freo Z10 robot vacuum and things changed.
I do love the concept of a robot vacuum. They’re proactive, programmable, and clean in the background so you don’t have to. I’ve tried a few cheaper robot vacuums over the years, but they were more trouble than they were worth and I’d eventually give up on them.
They’d choke on dog hair, get stuck under chairs, and skim past half the dirt instead of picking it up. I wanted something I didn’t have to babysit — something that could actually keep up with the chaos of a real family home.
That’s where the Narwal Freo Z10 surprised me. It’s not just a robot vacuum with a mop tacked on the bottom. It feels like an actual cleaning system, designed for homes like mine, and what happened when I road tested one really surprised me.

What Stood Out Straight Away
Forget those cheap bots that spend more time wedged under the couch than cleaning. Narwhal’s Freo Z10 is in another league. Think of it more like a personal cleaning assistant who actually knows what they’re doing, and does it well!
The first thing I noticed was how thorough it was. It’s was a very different approach to my previous robot vacuums. From the way it mapped my rooms to the behaviour when sweeping and mopping, I knew we were dealing with a different, clever tech.
- NO MORE HAIR DRAMAS: The Freo Z10’s DualFlow Tangle-Free System means no more pulling wads of hair out of the rollers. If you’ve got long hair (or pets that shed), you’ll know exactly how quickly vacuums clog up. This is a total lifesaver.
- SWEEPING BRUSH ALIGNMENT: Its Dynamic Side Brushes (the ones that protrude out the front and ‘sweep’ the dirt away, actually shift angles to loosen and lift hair. It’s such a small detail but it makes a big difference. Instead of a ‘V’ shape, they for an ‘II’ shape to actively loosen and pick up hair. No scissors, no swearing, no wasted effort.

- FULLY CUSTOMISABLE: I loved that you could tweak the vacuum settings, and choose from a stack of customisations. You can choose from:
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Vacuum and mop
- Vacuum then mop
- Vaccum
- Mop
- Floor Maintenance (applying maintainer to make the floor shinier etc)
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- EXCEPTIONAL PRECISION: This baby cleans with millimetre precision. It doesn’t leave those “robot vac gaps” around furniture legs or along edges. It gets everything.
- IT REALLY SUCKS: The suction is also powerful. There’s nothing worse than seeing a trail of debris following your robot vacuum around for what it’s failed to pick up! The Freo Z10 eats crumbs, dust, and pet hair for breakfast with 15,000 Pa powerful suction, which apparently is a lot more than the usual robot vac, and a 99% particle removal rate on hardwood floors. Plus, you can adjust the suction strength manually via the Narwal app so it cleans to your standards and is fully customisable.
- MOP UNTIL SPOTLESS: The two scrubbing mops keep working until every sticky splodge, spill, and dirty footprint are gone This isn’t a once-over-and-hope-for-the-best. You can even set it to either mop straight or ‘wiggle’ which means it rubs back and forward over each spot to ensure everything gets a good scrub!! Plus you can tell it to mop once, twice or go over the zone or room up to 3 times!!

The Mop That Feels Like Mopping, Not Pretending To
This was the real game-changer for me. The mop actually scrubs. Two pads rotate to really work on stains, and the DirtSense™ Auto-Wash means it doesn’t stop until it’s spotless. Sticky spills, muddy paw prints, and whatever dried mess the kids leave behind … it doesn’t just glide over them, it cleans them properly.
Thanks to the EdgeReach™ Triangular Mop Extension, the mop pads extend out to reach all the tight spots to ensure no area is left untouched.

The fact that it uses hot water to wash the mop pads, then dries them, is pretty impressive too. I hated that wet, musty smell from my old robot mop, or having to replace the mop pads with disposable pads. With this, the pads come out fresh every time and they’re actually got a decent towelling texture to grip and scrub your floors.
And when it hits carpet? The mop automatically lifts 12mm so there’s no soggy rug contact. It even vacuums carpets in a crisscross pattern so nothing gets missed.
The base station automatically dispenses the right amount of water and cleaning solution into the machine before it leaves, and keeps floors hygienic and streak-free!

Game-Changing Mop Tech
- The mop isn’t just a token add-on here. Its AI-powered base station uses hot water to wash the mop heads, dries them to prevent that nasty “wet dog” smell, and even self-empties the dustbin. Dust gets compressed and stored for up to 120 days … which is about 119 days longer than I can store laundry before folding it.
- And when it detects carpet? The mop lifts 12mm so it doesn’t smear grime across your rug. It even cleans carpets in a matrix pattern to lift dust from every angle.

The Base Station: Where the Magic Happens
One of the things that really sets the Freo Z10 apart is the base station. It feels solid and well made, with separate tanks for clean and dirty water, a fabric dust bag, and a cartridge of cleaning fluid. The front cover attaches magnetically, so it’s easy to pop off when you need to access the dust bag or cleaning fluid and lift up the top lid to access the two water containers.
Here’s how it works in real life: the robot backs in, and the base gives the mop pads a proper hot water wash before drying them, so they’re always fresh for the next round. It also compresses the dust into a filter bag, which means I only have to think about emptying it every 120 days or so. That’s a huge difference compared to emptying cheaper robots every second or third run.
Plus, its voice feature and the Narwal app alerts you to issues and instructs you on what to do if you should happen to interrupt the cycle, it gets stuck or needs attention in any way.
What I love most is how smart it is when mopping a large area. Instead of dragging dirty pads around, it’ll stop, head back to the base to wash and refresh the pads, then return right to where it left off to finish the job. It feels like a proper cleaning cycle, not a half-done one.

Narwal Freo Z10 Thinks Smarter, Works Harder
The Freo Z10 scans your house and builds a 3D map. I was sceptical at first, but it really does help — it cleans in a proper, methodical route instead of just ping-ponging around randomly.
Plus, you can add in the furniture in each room onto the map to hep you visualise what goes where and make it easier to set zones and work effectively for the best result.
Through the app, I can set no-go zones (like where the dog’s bed is or under the Lego table) and child lock precaution so little fingers don’t interrupt or control. Plus, I can set the zone or rooms I want to specifically clean so if I only want the kitchen and dining room done, I can send it straight there.

I loved that I set a zone for just my kitchen floor area, because some nights after a big cookup, the floor needs all the help it can get. I have a mop task scheduled for 10pm every second evening to only clean the kitchen floor and can’t begin to express how wonderful it feels to walk into a freshly mopped kitchen floor in the morning, knowing I didn’t have to lift a finger.
And the fact that it responds to voice control with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home? Well! I’ll admit, it’s a little indulgent to tell it to “clean the kitchen” while I’m sitting on the couch, but it works, and I love it!

Perfect for Messy Family Life with Babies and Toddlers
While my kids are screaming through the teenage years at a rate of knots, for those of you with babies or toddlers, this is a sanity-saver. Think:
- Post-meal cleanup under the high chair — no bending down with paper towel.
- Milk and juice spills mopped with hot water and dried pads in minutes.
- Pet fur control before bub learns to crawl.
- Safe, hygienic floors that don’t just look clean, they are clean.
- It’s quiet too. Crafted for your homes, Freo Z10 delivers powerful cleaning at just 55dB.
- Set and forget functionality and I love it! I schedule the unit to run while you’re out, you come home to sparkling floors without seeing the chaos being fixed. I have a vacuum function to kick off at 10pm each night so it cleans after the chaos of the day, and often once the cooking is done and the kitchen needs a bit of a helping hand from the dinner run! #winning
Worth the Investment?
The Narwal Freo Z10 is definitely an investment, and for me, it’s totally worth it. I don’t feel like I’m constantly chasing mess anymore. I can set it to run while I’m out, or schedule regular cleans, and just not think about it.
It’s not just about having cleaner floors — it’s the mental load it takes off. One less job, one less ball in the air. For mums like me juggling kids, pets, and everything else … that’s huge.
Final Thoughts
The Narwal Freo Z10 isn’t for someone who just wants a quick tidy here and there. It’s for families, pet owners, and anyone who feels like they’re fighting an ongoing battle with their floors.
It doesn’t just vacuum. It doesn’t just mop. It scrubs, it washes itself, it dries, it empties, it maps, and it learns. And the best part? It does it without me having to lift a finger.
I honestly can’t imagine going back to life without it.
The Freo Z10 has genuinely:
- Freed me from daily vacuum-and-mop duty
- Kept pet hair from taking over my tiles
- Tackled dirty and sticky messes without me even thinking about it
- Given me back hours every week
It’s not your average budget bot, but what time do we put on our time, sanity, or replacing a dodgy budget version in 12 months (or cleaning up after it). With the Narwal Freo Z10, you’re getting a cleaning system that’s smarter, stronger, and sassier than anything else I’ve tried.
If my house was on fire, I’d grab the kids, the pets, and then this thing. Well maybe not, but you get the idea.
Honestly? Best upgrade to my cleaning game since teaching the kids how to put dishes in the dishwasher — and we all know how well that’s going.
