When does the sale start?Â
The Scoot Airlines sale starts at 10am Perth time (1pm Melbourne time) on Tuesday November 5, Melbourne Cup Day. It ends at 2359 Sat November 9 2019 (Perth time).
What are the travel dates?Â
You can escape right away. The sale starts for travel from November 6, until 27th March 2021 – some blackout periods may apply over school holidays and event periods.
In April 2019, I flew Scoot Airlines to Laos with my two children. We avoided the blackout periods by leaving a little bit before school term ended, and coming home just after. If your kids aren’t school age – you don’t have to worry about this one.
What’s Scoot really like with kids?Â
Awesome. We loved it. The food onboard was actually better than some of the food we have been served on full-service flights. You can either order food with your ticket or purchase onboard. Keep in mind that Scoot has a larger menu in-flight than they do for pre-order.
Sure, you don’t have onboard entertainment (unless you pay). But kids these days are more likely to want to watch YouTube and downloaded Netflix series. Just download all your favourite shows before you go.
My kids really loved the windows on the Scoot flight. The windows tint dark so you can still see out but the light doesn’t disturb the cabin.
If you are flying on to other destinations past Singapore, check your flight times. You may need to stop overnight in Singapore before boarding the next flight. This is actually a great way to break up the trip with kids but you will need to factor that into your budget.
The staff on board are called “Scooties”. I flew solo with two kids and they did everything the could to help me.
