Taylor Swift Ticket Resale Platform to Open Friday, Squeezing Out Scalpers

Swifties, get ready for a sensational summer as Taylor Swift brings her iconic “The Eras Tour” to Australia in February 2024. This 12-time GRAMMY® award winner is set to deliver unforgettable stadium shows in Sydney and Melbourne, promising to be the biggest concerts of the season! With tickets to the show almost impossible to get, Ticketek has announced the Taylor Swift Ticket Resale platform will open on Friday.

The platform will be open to trade tickets to all of her six Australian shows, three in Melbourne at the MCG and three at Sydney’s Accor Stadium. Her international presence has soared to new heights, with her U.S. tour selling a record 2.4 million tickets in just one day. However, this overwhelming demand caused a bit of a hiccup, crashing the Ticketmaster website and leading to the cancellation of the general public sale. Swift herself expressed frustration over the struggles her fans faced in securing tickets.

The Eras Tour is set to descend on Aussie soil in February 2024. Unfortunately, the tour will only stretch so far as Melbourne and Sydney for all of  Australia and New Zealand.

Millions of excited Australian Swifties tried and failed in September to secure a spot in the now sold-out shows. Only 450,000 tickets were initially made available for the five concerts; disappointment was sky-high. A further show in each city was announced recently to coincide with more seats being released but ultimately led to even more disappointment as fans walked away frustrated and heartbroken to have yet again missed out.

How the Taylor Swift Ticket Resale will work

Starting from 10 am AEDT on Friday, 24 November 2023, fans will have the opportunity to join in the Taylor Swift Ticket Resale to buy and sell tickets on THE ONLY authorised Ticketek Marketplace reselling platform.

It’s a game-changer designed to combat scalpers, with tickets capped at face value plus 10% to ensure fair pricing.

Naturally, with the number of tickets being listed for sale limited by the number of fans wanting to sell tickets, it’s really difficult to predict how many tickets will be available for sale.

Most likely there won’t be a flurry of tickets available immediately. However, as tickets become available over the coming months before her Australian concerts, fans can keep an eye on the site to attempt to buy remaining tickets.

If you have a ticket that you want to sell, simply log onto the marketplace and submit your tickets for sale.  Once sold, Ticketek will organise to issue the funds directly to your nominated bank account.

For buyers, ensure you’re logged into your account and have the correct payment method (or your credit card handy), and your tickets will be issued into your Ticketek account often immediately and sometimes up to 48 hours later.

Strict ticket scalping laws in Victoria and NSW will ensure that scalpers won’t be profiteering through the marketplace. A very strict 10% above the original ticket price cost is all that will be permitted.

Original release tickets ranged in price from $79,90 for Category F (the nosebleed seats) to A Reserve Seats at $379.00 each. With that in mind, the most expensive regular ticket you’ll find will be no more than $416.90.

What about VIP Packages?

If you’re in the market for one of her hotly contested VIP Packages, all trading on these MUST BE DONE between November 24 and December 15, the time period Ticketek has given for all VIP and hotel bundles.

Price-wise, you can expect to hand over a bit of cash for VIP tickets, with the cheapest individual VIP package priced at a maximum of $385.90 and the most expensive single VIP package coming in at $1374.90.

The Ticketek Marketplace is the only safe place to sell and buy tickets, with other resale platforms banned from offering passes to The Eras Tour.

Ticketek Marketplace to protect consumers and squeeze out scalpers

Geoff Jones, CEO of TEG, the parent company of Ticketek, acknowledges the issues fans have faced due to scalping practices, such as inflated prices and lack of transparency. The Ticketek Marketplace aims to provide a trustworthy and fair platform for ticket transactions.

The tour will also feature performances by American singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter, adding an extra layer of excitement.
