Two years ago a Michigan couple gave birth to a baby boy. Their 14th boy to be exact. They named him Finley Sheboygan. And we nearly choked on our coffee.
She-boy-gan? Short for “She’s a boy, again”. Yup. We can’t make this sh*t up.
Anyhoo, fast forward two years and Finley Sheboygan is officially a big brother! And, for the first time, after 14 boys, Kateri and Jay Schwandt are parents to a BABY GIRL.
Even better news – she has a totally normal, non-made-up weirdo name. Hooray for all!
14 boys and a little lady
The couple, who star in the TV series, 14 Outdoorsmen with their sons, shared their happy news on their Facebook page, welcoming their daughter, Maggie Jayne, to the big family of testosterone.
As if 2020 couldn’t any crazier! We are blessed to welcome and announce the birth of our little SISTER, Maggie Jayne. Her and mom are doing well and we couldn’t be more excited!”
Maggie will have 14 boys to watch out for her. Ready for the big brothers’ names? Here we go:
There’s Tyler (the eldest at 28 years old), Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvin, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, Francisco and Finley (the youngest at 2.5 years old).
And baby #15, little Maggie Jayne. Nawww.
Lucky # 15
Clearly, this little girl was very much-wanted and will be very loved. And with 28 years of parenting practice up their sleeves, Kateri and Jay have a pretty good idea what they’re in for. Except, of course, they’ve got nothing pink!
Kateri and Jay, now both 45, have been procreating for nearly three decades and have been together since high school.
Big bro Tyler told the press,
My parents were finally blessed with the little girl they never thought they’d end up having. It’s been about 12 hours since my dad told us, and I still haven’t quite wrapped my mind around it. I don’t even know if my mom owns any pink clothing — or anything.”
Always wanted a girl
Kateri admits that she had given up hope of ever having a little girl but both parents have always said that they would welcome a daughter to the household.
“If we were to have a girl, I think we would go into shock,” Kateri told MLive in 2014. “It would probably be disbelief.”
“The stuff that goes on in this house is all-boy – roughhousing and wrestling,” Jay added. “If there was a little girl in there, I assume it would be different.”
“I’ve experienced all the boy stuff. As long as we are having all these children, it would be really neat to experience the other side.”
Welcome to the other side, Jay and Kateri! Daughters are a whole new ballgame and you’re in for a beautiful journey.
