Aussie shoppers, listen up — the popular Anko coffee cups sold nationally at Kmart and Target have just been urgently recalled, and if you’ve got one in your kitchen, it’s time to take action.
The Anko Double-Walled Coffee Cup with Lid, sold between 18 December 2024 and 7 April 2025, has been pulled from shelves due to a serious safety hazard. Available in four trendy colours — Sunset, Sage, Black, and Rose Gold — these cups were a hot item for anyone looking to ditch disposable coffee cups.
But here’s the kicker: they’re not safe to use with hot drinks. Yep — a coffee cup… that’s dangerous when it holds coffee.
Anko Coffee Cup Recall and Why It’s Urgent!
According to Product Safety Australia, the lids on these cups do not have a pressure release valve. When hot liquid is poured in, pressure builds up inside the cup. With nowhere to go, the lid can suddenly pop off, sending steaming liquid flying — and potentially causing serious burns.
At least one injury has already been reported, and now the product has been urgently recalled from all stores across Australia.
