Every birth is amazing. But the birth of little Ean Jamal Vanstory Jr. is exceptional beyond words!
Not only was Ean born en route to hospital, but he was also born en caul.
Ean’s father captured the incredible moment his newborn son made his entry into the world. Cradled in his mum’s arms, on the front seat of the car, little Ean remains snug in the amniotic sac.
A speedy delivery
The photo is certainly incredible. And the lead-up to this dramatic entry is just as amazing. As Raelin explains on her Instagram page, she started having contractions in the morning. However, being only 29 weeks pregnant, she assumed they were Braxton Hicks. This is what happened, in her own words.
” I was only 29 weeks and 4 days so I just figured they were Braxton hicks and decided to wait it out,” she writes. “After about 45 minutes of consistent contractions that were increasing in intensity I decided I should probably go in. I dropped my daughter to her God mommy Nicole and headed to the hospital.
“Well the contractions continued to get closer together and more intense and before I knew it I knew it was time to push. I called 911 because I was so scared. They couldn’t understand me between the screams with contractions. So I handed the phone to my fiancee.
“I pulled my pants off and reached down, sure enough his head was right there. I pushed one time and my miracle baby was here. When I looked down I realized he was still completely wrapped in the amniotic sac.
En caul births are incredibly rare; about 1 in 80,000 babies are born en caul. En caul births that occur in the car? Unheard of.
“The baby was still”
As what had just happened started to register, the now threesome continued the trek to the hospital, hoping their baby would be alive and healthy.
“I was so scared. My Fiancee was so calm driving and on the phone with 911. At first the baby was still and all I could do was pray he would be okay. And then I rubbed his face with my thumb and he pulled his little hands and feet up to his face as if he understood my prayers and wanted to reassure us he was okay,” Raelin writes.
Seven minutes after Ean’s birth, they arrived at the hospital where Ean was whisked away to the NICU. Weighing just 1.3 kilograms (and 11 weeks premature), this little miracle is proof that birth is a truly incredible experience, no matter where it occurs.
“I know he’s going to be an awesome little man,” Raelin writes. “He is truly a miracle baby. We are so blessed to be his parents.”
A massive congratulations to the now-family-of-four. And what an incredible story to share on Ean’s 21st.
