Is it a pram? A trike? Some crazy baby holding contraption? Whatever it is, it’s recalled. So return it.
Product Safety Australia has issued a nationwide recall on the SmarTrike 700 SmartFold, sold at Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us.
The 8 in 1 (yes, we said 8) Folding Trike is designed for babies from six months. It starts off as a pram and gradually transforms into a trike for toddlers and preschoolers. The trike was on sale from 19 November 2017 to January 2018 at Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us online and in Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.
What’s the issue?
Although it looks handy, it doesn’t come with a mandatory tether strap and does not meet mandatory warning label requirements.
According to PSA, “If the product does not have the required safety features and warning labelling, they may not be used correctly, posing a risk of injury to the child.”
What should consumers do?
Take your transforming pram trike back to a Toys “R” Us or Babies “R” Us store for a full refund. You can contact Toys ‘R’ Us Product Safety on 1300 869 778 for more information.
