Julia Faustyna, also known as Julia Wendell or Wandelt, has spoken to Dr. Phil about her belief that she is missing British girl Madeleine McCann. Millions of viewers tuned in to watch as she told the talk show host she truly believes she is the missing girl and that this is not a hoax.
However, her family has since spoken out, believing that their daughter is most certainly “isn’t Maddie”.
Here’s the latest:
Julia Faustyna claims to be Madeleine McCann
Julia, the 21-year-old Polish girl who made headlines claiming she believes she is Madeleine McCann has had quite an eventful few weeks. Since making the claim and providing several pieces of “evidence” on a now-deleted Instagram account, Julia has received death threats over it, fled to America and joined forces with private investigator Fia Johansson.
She has also submitted three DNA samples.
The evidence she put forward includes similar facial features, including birthmarks on their faces and an eye defect. She also looks a lot like Madeleine’s parents.
Julia claims to have no baby pics or medical records or childhood memories. She also claims she was abused by a German name named Ney. He is her grandmother’s second husband. This happens to be the same last name as the German man who was arrested for Maddie’s kidnapping several years ago – Marvin Ney. Julia is suggesting that Marvin Ney – the German man accused of kidnapping Maddie/Julia, is the son of her abuser.
Julia on Dr. Phil
This week Julia appeared on Dr. Phil to clear a few things up. As she tells the talk show host:
“About a year ago I started to research on the internet because I started to think that maybe I’m (a) missing child,” Faustyna said on Dr Phil.
“I thought in my life something is wrong here because my mother didn’t hug me, didn’t say, ‘I love you’ so it was a little suspicious to me.
“I want to know who I am, and I want to know if I am Madeleine McCann.”

At this stage, the three samples of DNA submitted have not come back so we still don’t know for sure who Julia really is.
However, Julia’s family, as well as facial recognition technology, is 100% certain Julia is not Madeleine McCann.
Julia’s family finally speaks out
The claim that Julia could be Madeleine has caused a lot of media attention and many people are questioning Julia’s motives. Is this all just a hoax or a cry for fame?
Julai’s family has remained silent for a long time but has recently shared a statement, explaining that Julia is their daughter and that this confusion is due to poor mental health and a desire to be in the public eye.
“It is obvious to us as a family that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and stepdaughter,” they said in a statement earlier.
“We have memories, we have photos. We always tried to help her get back on her feet. Julia has been of age for several years. She has moved out of the house, (she) refuses treatment, doesn’t take medicines regularly.
She also did not take advantage of the treatment opportunity at a very good centre in Poland, which agreed to accept her.
The internet doesn’t forget, and it’s obvious that Julia isn’t Maddie. We are devastated by the current situation.”
Facial recognition analysis results
While Julia is reportedly still waiting for the DNA results, last week a technology company shared its insights.
Software company Deep Impact recently used its AVA-X technology to run the facial recognition analysis, which works by comparing pictures of people and determining whether it is the same person.
“In the case of Julia, her childhood photos were matched with her current face and also a current photo with a photo of Maddie,” CEO Christian Fehrlin said.
The results were very clear. It is 99% impossile that Julia is the missing Maddie,”
Claims of trafficking?
Another bombshell claim surrounding Julia Faustyna is that, if she isn’t missing Maddie, she could be another missing child. Julia also shares similarities to the missing Swiss girl, Livia Schepp.
Livia Schepp was six years old when she and her twin sister, Alessia, went missing in Switzerland in 2011. Police believe their father killed the girls, but they are still considered missing. You can read Livia’s full story here.
Dr. Fia also hinted that Julia could be a victim of a sex trafficking group.
This is what Dr. Fia has said:
We have a lot of evidence right now that shows Julia was definitely trafficked to Poland from another country by an international sex trafficking group. We are still conducting an investigation but Julia is definitely not the child of her parents in Poland.”
“If the results come back that she’s British or from that area then we are going to continue our investigation into Madeleine McCann and communicate with the detectives in Portugal.”
At this stage, nothing is confirmed but we hope Julia gets the answers she so desperately is searching for, whatever the outcome is.
More to come.
