Allow us to introduce you to Let’s Hit Each Other with Fake Swords. It’s a family-friendly game like no other that involves hitting some strategy, some fun, and of course, hitting each other with fake swords! Designed to be the ultimate family-friendly game, Let’s Hit Each Other with Fake Swords will slice up your traditional board game nights and have everyone laughing out loud.
New to the games world, this hilarious game is a part of the legendary Exploding Kittens series. At Mum Central, we’re huge fans of the Exploding Kittens range of games (Mantis is our Exploding Kittens winning game of 2023), so we just HAD to test out the newest edition to the Exploding Kittens family. Plus, it involves hitting people with fake swords. I mean, how could we resist?
Even if you’re the slightest bit curious about how this game works and want to see what real Aussie families have to say about it, keep reading! We asked seven families from our Mum’s The Word Review Crew to put this brand-new game through its paces and see what unfolded. You know they say “A picture is worth a thousand words” … well it couldn’t be more true! Let’s Hit Each Other with Fake Swords Review
Our panel of reviewers included families with children aged 5 to 16. Some had played Exploding Kittens games before, while others had never played one of these unique games.
All of them, however, agreed that this game delivered something not usually found in the board game realm. And that’s really exciting!
Fake Swords is easy to learn, explain and play, and combines strategy, swordplay and silliness into the perfect non-board game.Â
We surveyed our families at the end of their two-week review, and here’s a snapshot of the main sentiment.
✅Â 100% would recommend this game to others
✅Â 100% would agree it entertained the whole family
✅Â 100% would give it either a 5/5 or 4/5 (see below for the overall rating)Â
But sometimes it’s just better to watch, and that’s why we’ve curated some of our favourite moments into this fun and energetic review!
Here’s What Our Reviewers Had to Say
“The kids loved hitting each other with fake swords! Very simple to set up and easy to play. Also very quick to play. Great occasional game to get out if you want something different to play.”- DomenicaÂ
“Absolutely love this game! This game was super fun to play both indoors and outdoors, it got us all up and on our feet, away from technology devices and having a hilariously fun time!! pieces!! This game will be treasured and taken along to all our family picnics from now on.” – Amy
“Hilarious, chaotic fun for the whole family. Exhausting but fast to play and learn. Let’s Hit Each Other With Fake Swords is the best swordfighting tactical cardgame that I’ve ever played. I won on tactics but was roundly defeated by my kids with a sword.” – Richard
“A fun, active, family friendly game that is great for kids and adults alike. It had everyone laughing and jumping around together. The kids could play it for hours!”–RochelleÂ
“The different aspects of gameplay make it challenging so that you need to create a strategy for your chance to win! It takes brawn to win a sword fight, but brains to win the game. Now that we’ve had a few goes at it, i think we’ll be adding a game night to our family fun time roster.” – AmberÂ
“This is a fun game for the whole family! There’s a great mix of strategy, bluffing and chaos which kept us all entertained while we hit each other with fake swords. The gameplay is fun and fast, the cards get you up and moving and it’s easy to get the whole family involved.” – LaurenÂ
“A fun energetic family party game that can be played by all ages. Easy to learn and great heavy duty components make this an excellent game.
And let’s face it, if we get a chance to hit someone with a foam sword, we are going to take it!” – EdwardÂ
What Our Reviewers Especially Loved About Fake SwordsÂ
If it’s fast-paced physical fun with a simple set-up you’re after, Let’s Hit Each Other with Fake Swords ticks all the boxes and then some! Expect hilarious swordplay combined with tactical cards and physical fun.
Fun for everyone!
One of the things that stood out with our families is how entertaining it was for all ages, from our littlest reviewer at age 5 to our teen reviewers, who were happy to leave their phones on their beds to hit their parents with fake swords.
Play anywhere, over and over
Another big plus was how portable the game is. It packs up into a teeny tiny box, including the fake swords, so you can easily take it anywhere with you. You don’t need a table or plenty of space like traditional board games and it takes two seconds to set up, great for spontaneous play anywhere, whether outside, camping, at a family gathering or in the living room.
Easy set-up, easy clean-up
Plus, there aren’t 8 billion bits and pieces that the kids will lose, and you’ll end up stepping on. There’s nothing worse than having to store oddly shaped game parts and pieces. The cards and the swords are also really good quality, safe and designed for epic battles. The foam swords bend nicely, aren’t sharp, and the cards are made out of high-quality gloss cards.
But what our reviewers loved most about Let’s Hit Each Other With Fake Swords was that it brought the family together in a way that most games don’t.
- It’s competitive, but won’t end in a big argument.
- It’s tactical but it won’t take hours to play.
- It’s a card game but it involves more than just cards.
- It’s all about getting up, being active, having fun and, of course, hitting each other with fake swords.
It wasn’t like any other game we had ever played and it was fun for the kids to see mum and dad being silly and getting involved. It got us all up on our feet and interacting with each other when we normally wouldn’t. The perfect gift, this game would be fantastic for your family and friends!!”Â
