IKEA are recalling two of their popular Baby Safety Gates amid concerns the pressure mounts could fail and lower metal bar could cause a tripping hazard.
In the IKEA Baby Gate recall released yesterday, IKEA are saying the friction between the wall and the pressure mounted safety gate may not be sufficient to hold the gate in its intended position. Additionally, the lower metal bar could constitute a tripping hazard. Â Naturally, if the gate doesn’t remain in place, children may get access to unsafe areas, posing an injury hazard.
The two designs being recalled are:
- PATRULL KLÄMMA safety gate
- PATRULL SMIDIG safety gate
Model numbers: Â 70226524, 10226522, 70175609 and 50175610
These safety gates have been on sale between 1st April 2012 and 11th February 2015 at IKEA stores in:
- New South Wales
- Queensland
- South Australia
- Victoria
- Western Australia
Consumers should return their PATRULL KLÄMMA or PATRULL SMIDIG safety gate with date stamp 1510 or prior, to any IKEA store for a full refund. Any PATRULL safety gate extension units may also be returned for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required.
