2025 School Term Dates and School Holidays: FAQs
When is school out for 2024?Â
School ends for most states on Friday, 13 December 2024. However, some states will continue for another week, with the 2024 school term ending on the 17th, 19th, or 20th of December 2024.
When does school start 2025?
School starts for most states on Tuesday, 28 January 2025. However, some states don’t start the school year until Friday, 31 January, Monday, 3 February, Wednesday, 5 February, or Thursday, 6 February 2025.
How long is each school term?
Each school term is approximately 10 weeks.
How long are the school holidays in 2025?
This varies from state to state, but generally speaking, students get 2-3 weeks three times a year with 6-8 weeks off for summer holidays. Queensland students, for example, will get 17 days off for Term 1, 16 days off for Term 2, 17 days off for Term 3 and 45 days off for Term 4 in 2025/2026.
What about the terms of private schools in 2025?
This will depend on the state and the school. Sometimes, the school year will end a week early for private schools. Please check with your school or your region’s Diocese.
High schools can also be different as most year 10, 11 and 12 students will finish earlier to allow time for final examinations.
