If you’re in Queensland or planning a trek to the sunshine state anytime soon, then have a look at our top picks for best holiday parks in Queensland, from Cairns to the Gold Coast.
We think holiday parks, or caravan parks are the absolute bomb for family-friendly travel. They offer plenty of affordable accommodation options PLUS an entire wonderland of activities to keep both kids and adults entertained. Many feature pools and waterparks, jumping pillows and playgrounds and some also come with tennis courts, mini golf, rope swings and more.
Check out our top picks for holiday parks in Queensland below:
NORTH QUEENSLAND
Ingenia Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort (Cairns)
The best Cairns holiday park has got to be the Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort by Ingenia. It’s close to town and comes with a tennis court, mini golf, two bouncing pillows, two pools with waterslides, a waterpark and so much space to ride and roam. Choose from deluxe cabins or pitch a tent – there’s TONS of options!
Tasman Rollingstone Caravan Park (Rollingstone)Â
This one is a hidden gem and I almost feel bad sharing it because it’s one of our favourite local spots. Located directly on the beach and next to a lake, it’s a beautiful spot to chill out, fish, and spend time with the family. There are cabins, ocean caravan sites, and camping spots, plus a jumping pillow, BMX tracks, barra fishing, and a cool pool with a waterfall. It’s also pet-friendly and located about a half-hour north of Townsville. Very tropical and peaceful.
BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort (Airlie Beach)
This award-winning holiday park is a family delight! The kids will spend hours at the mega waterslide park and in the heated pool through winter (the biggest in Airlie Beach). Choose from tennis, mini golf, water slides, pedal karts, Kids Craft Club, outdoor movies, poolside massages, even an Animal Park… the list goes on. If you’re headed to Airlie Beach, this one is calling your name! Look for the Frog.
GOLD COAST
Big4 Gold Coast Holiday Park (Helensville)Â
Located in Helensville and just down the road from Dreamworld, the Gold Coast Holiday Park by Big4 boasts one of the best waterparks we’ve come across. There’s a giant Jumping Pillow and a range of outdoor activities such as Foot Pool, Frisbee Golf, table tennis and an off-road remote-control car track.
There’s also a great outdoor pool area, a lovely onsite cafe and plenty of accommodation options. It’s also away from the bright lights of Surfer’s Paradise but close enough that you can drive to the beaches for the day.
Nobby Beach Holiday Village (Miami)
Another Gold Coast holiday park option is Nobby Beach which is close to the beaches and shops in the Nobby Beach area. It’s an affordable option but also comes with lots of family-friendly activities including a 3.5 meter waterslide, two heated pools, a playground and a ninja playground.
NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort (Biggera Waters)
If you’re looking for a caravan park close to the sights of Surfer’s Paradise, then this is it! It’s been a family favourite for years now and it’s easy to see why. It makes for a great family hub to enjoy some downtime in between GC activities and features comfortable accommodation, a kids’ club, go-kart and ebike hire, mini golf, a bouncing pillow and swimming pools of course!
SUNSHINE COASTÂ
BIG4 Caloundra Holiday Park (Sunshine Coast)Â
Ideally situated on the water’s edge of the famed Pumicestone Passage and just a stone’s throw from surf beaches including Moffat and Dickies, Big4 Caloundra Holiday Park is a perfect choice for families visiting the Sunshine Coast. They’ve got a great pool set up with a coffee van and pizza on site, plus activities for the kids and a lovely waterfront location. Very relaxing vibe too!
BIG4 Sandstone Point Holiday Resort (Sandstone Point)
Another great waterfront option near the Sunshine Coast is Sandstone Point which is slightly closer to Brisbane and offers beautiful views of Bribie Island. Make the most of their facilities during your ‘down’ time including the waterplay park, heated pool, swim-up pool bar (YAS!!) with a heated jacuzzi, playground, jumping pillow, tennis court, pump track and heaps more. This place is more like a resort than a caravan park!
These are just some of the MANY great holiday parks in Queensland – we are so spoiled for choice. There are great holiday parks in Atherton, Townsville, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Toowoomba, and so many other areas too! We hope our best holiday parks Queensland guide helps you narrow it down a bit.
