My life is all about tunes. I listen to them in my car, in my office, in my bedroom and when I go for a walk. If I’m going out for the day [or longer] I always factor in how I can take my music with me.
A few years ago I bought a Yamaha portable speaker with an iPod dock. I take the portable party everywhere [it runs on batteries if there’s no power accessible] and everything is right in the world once it’s pumping. And believe me when I say it pumps.
When your life is all about tunes you’re always looking for the next best thing to fill your ears up with the music.
I’ve found the next best thing.
Introducing these ridiculously impressive Yamaha Audio systems. Big sound, small unit. Coming in a choice of either iPod/iPhone dock (TSX-B14) or Bluetooth (TSX-B15), they’re revolutionising the traditional speaker system and really pack a punch!
These Yamaha Desktop Audio Systems are a sensation. They come in blue, black, green, red, beige and I fortuitously got my hands on a white model with the dock just in time for our Mum Central End of Year Retreat. So we did what any self-respecting group of tune-loving chicks would do and thrashed it put it through its paces.
It was awesome.
First up, it looks really cool. I’ve seen other units that look clunky but this model is really stylish. Super easy to use, I literally plugged it in, docked my iPhone, pressed play and turned it UP.
The sound is fantastic. We cranked it to the maximum 60 and the bass was good, sound was clear and we could hear it all over the two-storey house.
But [apparently] not everything is just about the tunes.
Other features that impressed us include:
- Alarm Clock – perfect for the bedroom and you can wake up [or fall asleep] to your device OR the radio
- FM Presets for up to 5 FM radio stations
- Apple Dock – compatible with iPhone 5, 5C and 5S, iPod Touch 5th generation, iPod Nano 7th generation
- AUX Setting and Input Jack – perfect for connecting other audio devices via 3.5mm cable
Don’t despair if you don’t have the latest iPhone or iPod! It really is compatible with any audio device [Android, Tablet, iPod Classic]. You just need to get a commercially available 3.5mm cable [ie headphone jack] and connect your device through the auxiliary port and you’ll be turning the beat around in no time.
Priced at $149 (RRP), they represent great value for a unit that really delivers quality sound! They’re so small and convenient, we know you’ll take these babies with you wherever and whenever the need for tunes, sound and portability arises!
NOTE: The TSX-B15 is currently on sale at Target for $129 and would make a brilliant Xmas gift idea. SO if you loved them as much as we do, jump onto the Target website (or run in store) and grab yours now. Only challenge will be, which colour do you choose?!
Note: Yamaha Home Audio sent us a TSX-B14 unit to trial and review. Our opinions are our own.
We loved the Yamaha Desktop TSX-B14 and it’s certainly earned itself our Mum’s Choice Thumbs Up Award!
