Police are investigating the deaths of two toddlers found dead in a vehicle in the Queensland community of Woorabinda. Police are now treating the address as a crime scene while they investigate the circumstances surrounding their death.
The boys, aged two and three, were found deceased on Friday night at a property in Woorabinda, an Aboriginal property located 170km southwest of Rockhampton.
Toddlers found dead in the same vehicle, on separate occasionsÂ
The first child was discovered in a parked car on Richardson Street just before 8 pm. He was unconscious and not breathing.
Paramedics met the car carrying the boy at the hospital, and a rescue helicopter was on standby. Sadly, though, despite attempts to resuscitate the young boy, he was declared dead before he arrived at the hospital.
When Queensland Police officers attended the address at about 9.15 pm that night, they inspected the parked car the toddler was found in only to discover a second boy, aged three, inside. He was also rushed to the Woorabinda Hospital, but sadly, he was also pronounced dead on arrival.
Woorabinda is located in Central Queensland, 170km south-west of Rockhampton and 65km south of Duaringa. Woorabinda is situated on the traditional lands of the Wadja (Wad-ja) and Gungaloo (Gun-ga-loo) Aboriginal peoples.
Crime scene declared
Police have declared the property a crime scene as Detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths. Investigations are ongoing.
Woorabinda is a small Indigenous community in Central Queensland.
UPDATE: Police have shared that the vehicle that the boys were found in was not a working motor vehicle; it had no motor or electrical connections and was located at the rear of the property. Sadly, it appears they were drawn to the car ‘to play’ and perished in the heat of the day. Investigations will try to determine exactly how and if they got stuck in the car.
Police have also advised that the two boys were related but were not brothers.
 RIP little ones
