Let’s Talk About Christmas Door Decorating Ideas
So last Christmas I did a thing. I pulled out a crapload of wrapping paper and “wrapped” up our kitchen door that leads to our living room area where all the Christmas magic was waiting for them.
In addition to finding a wrapped door to rip through, the kids were greeted with the regular festive goodies – stockings stuffed with mini treats, presents under the tree and a plate full of cookie crumbs.
Using wrapping paper is just one of the many ways you can decorate your door for Christmas and it’s certainly not the most exciting option either. Take a look at some of these amazing Christmas door ideas!
Christmas door decorating is another way to add an extra touch of festivity to the household, whether you opt for an inside door that leads to your Christmas zone or an outside door to greet those coming to say hi. It just makes everything feel extra festive.
Temu has an epic selection of Christmas door decorations but, of course, it’s probably too late this Christmas to order anything from Temu and there’s always the chance the item delivered is actually designed for a Barbie’s Dreamworld door and not your actual door.
So, instead, we focused on Christmas door ideas and Christmas door decorations you can DIY! A lot of these ideas came from the amazing gal over at A Girl and a Glue gun so make sure you check her FB page out for more ideas.
Without further ado, our fave DIY Christmas door ideas!
1. Frosty the Doorman
We’ll start with a super simple one. Some eyes, some paper, a bit of Blutack. You’ve got this.
2. All Wrapped Up
This is sort of the look I went with but this one looks about 50000 times better than my attempt. As soon as you see your door all decked out, it’s like bam—instant Christmas vibes. You open it, and it’s like stepping into a holiday wonderland.
3. Christmas Tree Farm Door
Calling all Green Door households – this one has to be copied! So pleasing to the senses – all those greens and yuletide joy. Tree bliss.
4. Light up the Door
Here’s another pleasing Christmas door idea, and all it takes to pull it off is some Christmas light stencils, coloured paper and fairy lights. Easy peasy, right? I believe this door was designed for a classroom but hey, it works for a home as well.
5. A Classfull of Stockings
Another classroom classic, this door is designed to store the names of all the kiddies inside the classroom. Seriously teachers are soooo clever! You could pull it off at home though with your own tribe of kids and pets.
6. Ugly Sweater Door
I mean, it’s just not Christmas without an ugly sweater…
7. Gingerbread House Door
Open the door to a room full of tasty treats and festive fun! Again, all you really need for this is a bit of coloured card, some tissue paper, paper plates and pure imagination…
8. Enter Candyland
I would never want to leave.
9. Lights, Christmas, Action
Another light-inspired door, this one is a rainbow of brightness, a perfect way to ensure a cheerful morning.
10. One Ticket to the Polar Express
Glad to see the creepy animation didn’t make an appearance.
11. Stockings Hung by the Fireplace with Care
Don’t have a fireplace? No dramas. Just turn your door into the fireplace, complete with stockings hung with care. See kids, Santa doesn’t technically need a chimney. He just needs a Door with a Chimney on it…
12. Santa’s Little Helpers
What’s behind the door? Christmas wonderland of course! This is a fun one for the kids to open Christmas morning and see what Santa brought them.
13. The Gift of Christmas
I suppose there’s no better way to say “there’s presents behind the door” than by putting cardboard presents on the door.
14. A Nutcracker of an idea
No nuts about it – this door is a cracker!
15. Poinsettia Door-light
Poinsettias are one of the main Christmas plants (for those who didn’t know) and this door has a bit of a nativity vibe going down so well. Very unique, very pretty, very calming. I’m not sure if that’s Mary at the bottom with the candle but she looks pretty pleased with it all.
16. A Bow-tiful Welcome
I’m wrapping up our Christmas door decorating ideas with another front door option. Put a bow on it and call it December.
Even More Christmas Magic
I love everything about Christmas so adding Christmas door decorating to the list of traditions every year is an easy win for me. If you’re a fan of Christmas traditions too, check out some of these festive and fun ones to add to your list.
