Get your dance mode ready mums, because the Heelers are going HOLLYWOOD. Well, technically Brisbane via Disney, but still. BBC Studios, Walt Disney Studios and Ludo Studio have officially announced that our favourite Aussie blue heeler is making her big-screen debut in a full-length feature film – Bluey the Movie. Mark your calendars: August 6, 2027.
Yep. A proper Bluey movie. In cinemas. With popcorn. And no chance of your toddler hitting “skip intro” on the remote.

Bluey the Movie – From the Lounge Room to the Silver Screen
For six glorious years, Bluey has turned everyday family life into belly laughs, life lessons, and catchphrases we can’t stop quoting. (“For real life?!”) Whether it’s Bingo’s “tactical wee,” Chilli’s mum wisdom, or Bandit proving once again that dads can (and should) join in the silly games, the show has nailed what parenting actually looks like.
Now, Bluey creator Joe Brumm is bringing it all together in a feature-length adventure, co-directed by Richard Jeffery (Bluey series 1–3) and produced by Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie).
That’s a line-up you’d happily shout “Oh biscuits!” over.
The Heelers are back (yep, Mum and Dad too)
Good news, parents. Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack are back as Chilli and Bandit. That means the familiar voices that have been narrating our Sunday mornings and post-daycare dinners will be right there on the big screen.
As for Bluey and Bingo, those little legends will also be front and centre, although exact casting hasn’t been revealed yet (we know, cue the “aww, Mum!”).

A Global Superstar Made in Brisbane
Let’s not forget: Bluey is already the Beyoncé of kids’ TV. She’s the most-watched series globally on Disney+ in 2024, the most-streamed show in the U.S. last year, and still sitting top dog in 2025.
Awards? She’s basically got a toybox full: Emmys, BAFTAs, Logies, a Peabody, and back-to-back Television Critics Association gongs. Not bad for a six-year-old pup who just wanted to play Keepy Uppy.
And now, she’s taking on the cinema — with a little help from Screen Australia, Screen Queensland, and Disney. Yep, Bluey the Movie has more backing than a game of Shadowlands.
Why mums (and dads) are losing it
Because let’s be honest, this isn’t just for the kids. Parents everywhere have been quietly loving Bluey as much — if not more — than their littlies. Who hasn’t shed a sneaky tear during “Baby Race,” or chuckled a little too hard at Bandit’s parenting fails?
A whole feature-length Bluey? That’s basically like Christmas morning, Magic Asparagus, and Hammerbarn all rolled into one.
What can we expect in the Bluey the Movie?
Plot details are under wraps tighter than Bingo hiding under the doona, but we know one thing: it’s going to be a rollercoaster of feels, fun, and family chaos. There’ll be games. There’ll be giggles. There’ll probably be a moment that makes every parent go “Oh mate, too real.”
And on the big screen? The colours, the animation, the music — it’s going to hit harder than Dance Mode at full volume.
Why it’s worth the wait
Sure, 2027 feels a lifetime away. That’s two more trips around the sun, countless school pick-ups, and approximately 4,368 rounds of Duck Cake until we’re sitting in the cinema. But if Bluey has taught us anything, it’s that the little moments are worth savouring.
So while we wait, we’ll keep rewatching old episodes, keep quoting “good idea, Bingo,” and keep dreaming of what the Heelers will get up to when they hit the big screen.
For real life
So there it is. Bluey the Movie. August 6, 2027. In cinemas everywhere.
Parents, you now officially have the best excuse ever to drag your kids to the movies (“But it’s for YOU, sweetie”). And when the lights dim, don’t be surprised if you’re the one giggling the loudest.
Because at the end of the day, Bluey isn’t just about dogs in Brisbane. It’s about family, play, imagination, and all the little things that make parenting equal parts hilarious and heart-squeezing.
And if that’s not worth a WACKADOO, we don’t know what is.

Our (just) 9 year old is a huge Bluey fan. He has just received some Bluey books and clothing.
Bluey is already on his Christmas list
