Condensed milk mayonnaise is a thing …

… and I’m totally here for it.

Now before you reel back in horror at the thought, hear me out. Condensed milk CAN be savoury. Promise. In fact, this mayonnaise recipe will be one that your grandparents and great-grandparents probably know well. This was mayonnaise before we had actual mayonnaise.

Use it in salads, on sandwiches and on wraps, really however you see fit. Mayonnaise is life, after all.

Without further ado, here’s a condiment that you can whip up in as little as a minute or two, and one that will coat potatoes like a dream and may actually make you turn your back on store-bought mayo forever. You’ve been warned.

4-Ingredient condensed milk mayonnaise recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tin of sweetened condensed milk (395g)
  • ¼ cup white or brown vinegar
  • 2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Method

  1. Mix together the mustard powder and pepper.
  2. In a medium size bowl, pour in the entire tin of condensed milk.
  3. Add the mustard powder and pepper. Mix and whisk together to combine well.
  4. In a slow drizzling action, add in the vinegar while whisking, making sure the condensed milk takes it all in and the vinegar isn’t left sitting on top.
  5. Taste the mayonnaise for flavour. You could add extra pepper and a pinch of salt. You could even add a little garlic powder or dill for a completely different taste.

A few notes:

  • Use the mayonnaise straight away or pop it in the fridge to use later once cold.
  • This mayonnaise recipe isn’t suitable for freezing and is best consumed within a couple of days.
  • Store in an air-tight container in the fridge.
