Breakfast – it’s the most important meal of the day. Not only does it give you the energy to get through the school drop off, but it may also provide you with the perfect buffet of baby name inspiration.
Just ask Chris Danzig, a proud dad from New York.
Chris took to social media to share a snap of his new daughter as well as her name, complete with the birth certificate.
Welcome to the world Mia Pancake Danzig.
Yes. Pancake. It doesn’t get any sweeter than that.
To demonstrate his commitment to Mia Pancake, he even an shared official government document proving that the buttery baby name is here to stay.
And why Pancake? Well, the reason really is just a little bit sweet …
“You always have to take extra care when making your first pancake cause you don’t know if the griddle is hot enough, if there’s enough butter in the pan,” Chris explains.
“When she was in utero we called her pancake (cause we had to be extra mindful when making our first pancake). When it came time to decide a name Sari and I couldn’t agree so we made a deal. Sari could pick the first name if I could pick the middle (no vetos allowed).
“She chose Mia (which I actually do like) and I chose pancake. I wanted her to keep that term of endearment with her throughout life and hopefully it will prevent her from taking herself too seriously. Life is a bit absurd – it’s helpful to have a reminder of that from time to time.”

Of course, Chris isn’t the first parent to choose an unusual name for his offspring. Plenty of people have found their baby name inspiration in the pantry. There’s Apple, Olive, Kale, Coco, Peaches, Sage and Clementine to name a few.
But, we have to admit, Pancake is stacks above the rest of these cuisine-themed choices in terms of uniqueness. And deliciousness.
I would have gone with Bacon myself. But, hey, that’s just me.
What do you think of the middle name choice? Deliciously adorable? Or too fluffy for your taste?
