WIN a Fully Installed Energy Saving Air Conditioner with Trades Services SA

Let’s face it, we could all use a bit of a break when it comes to our energy bills. How much you spend per year on electricity, hot water plus heating and cooling costs will depend on where you live and whether you’re using energy-saving products.

For us, we spend a substantial amount. I won’t delve into the exact number but it’s well over $3,000 a year. EEK! We have air conditioning running quite regularly, my kids never listen to my requests to turn off the lights and I really like long, hot showers. Plus my toddler requests two baths a day cause she’s a grubby little thing and loves water play.  It all adds up, so switching to energy-saving products sounds mighty appealing to me!

Energy-saving products that WILL save you money

That’s why we wanted to talk to all our South Australian mums about an amazing Government incentive to help switch to energy-saving products for your home.

Under the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS), South Australian households may be eligible for up to $300 worth of energy savings products (more on this later).

In addition to this, Trades Services SA have an incredible discount on one of the most energy-efficient air conditioners on the market – the ActronAir Serene Series 2 2.6kw Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner. ActronAir is an Australian brand and purpose-built to deal with the harshest of Aussie summers.

Mum Central readers can get one fully installed for just $499! Yep, a brand new reverse-cycle air conditioner for under $500! That’s a saving of 70% OFF what you’d normally expect to pay for an Actron Air Conditioner. Plus, it’ll save you money on your energy bills each year.

Definitely worth looking at if you are in need of a new air-conditioner! In fact, Trades Services SA is even giving ONE away!

DID YOU KNOW?

mum centralOn average, heating and cooling account for 40% of your energy bill*. And, let’s face it, living in Australia, we NEED our heaters and air cons!

A non-energy efficient air conditioner might end up costing you over $2,000 a year to run which is why it’s always a smart move to buy energy-efficient appliances straight off the bat. You pay for the quality without a heating and cooling hangover.

It can be a big investment, but it will make a difference, not only to the feel of your home but also to your bills. Take advantage of the $499 ActronAir Serene Series 2 2.6kw Reverse Cycle air conditioner offer from Trades Services SA and enjoy one of the most energy-efficient air conditioners on the market.

What about lighting and hot water?

You may be surprised how much the little things add up too!

mum centralOn average, lighting accounts for 7% of the average household energy budget, hot water up to 23%, and standby power around 3%.*. That could be as high as 33% of your bill!

Swapping to energy-efficient products – simple things like light bulbs and shower heads – can drastically reduce these numbers and how much you pay every year.  We’re talking a reduction of hundreds of dollars in some instances.

A single incandescent light bulb used for 5 hours a day can cost you $34 a year!
But an LED light bulb used for the same time only costs $3!

AND THIS IS ONE LIGHT BULB, LADIES.  We have like 40 light bulbs in our house!  I’ll be the first to admit I SUCK at maths, especially since they’ve changed it. But no matter how you add this up, it makes good sense, not just for our pockets, but also for the planet.

Take advantage of the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme

It all sounds great in theory, right? Change a few light bulbs, buy a new shower head and a new aircon. Factor in the costs and the installation and it’s a big job!

But it doesn’t have to be. You see, under the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) provided through Trades Services SA, South Australians can receive up to $300 worth of energy-savings products for their home for under $33, or free in some instances.

REPS is a South Australian Government energy efficiency scheme and essentially can reduce your energy consumption (and costs) by replacing inefficient devices.

Many households will be eligible to receive these products free of charge while other households just need to pay $33. It’s that easy!

Even better? You don’t have to do anything. Trades Services SA will do all the heavy lifting, shower head swapping, and light bulb changing for you. They will provide your home with up to $300 worth of products and install them – no mess, no fuss!

What products do you get?

It all depends on what products you currently have in your house. You may only need five light bulbs changed or you may need 40 changed.

Under the REPS, customers are eligible for up to:

  • 40 x LED light bulb replacements
  • 3 x Water-saving shower heads
  • 3 x Standby Power Controllers

Am I eligible?

The Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) is for businesses and families, whether you own or rent.

If you are a pensioner/concession cardholder or rent and pay less than $400 a week, you will receive these products for free. If not, you will need to pay a minimum of $33 (inc GST) per household.

$33 – for up to $300 worth of products! This is a pretty decent deal. I mean, we pay around $33 for just ONE pack of large nappies, ONE meal out, or TWO cocktails! Sure, they are delicious drinks, but they don’t last. These energy-savings products will last you for years and years and you’ll notice the savings on your energy bills straight away.

Whether you’re looking to take advantage of the free energy-saving products through REPS or want to upgrade your heating and cooling systems, Trades Services SA is your first port of call.

I wish you had made it clearer this competition is only for people in SA before I wasted my time filling it in 🙁 You could even have stopped me at the state box…

There were five references to it being for South Australian families throughout the article. We did make it very clear from the onset. Sorry if you didn’t pick it up but we were mindful of being transparent along the way. Thanks, Bel
