Our hearts are breaking for Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott, the parents of five-month-old Zen S. The little man lost his battle with brain cancer, just three months after being diagnosed and just five months after his birth.
Nick shared the devastating news on his talk show, The Nick Cannon Show, confirming his son Zen passed away on Sunday, 5 December 2021.
The 41-year-old host tearfully announced his 5-month-old son’s death on “The Nick Cannon Show,” dedicating Tuesday’s episode to his “beautiful son Zen.”
Goodbye Zen
Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumor, brain cancer. It’s tough.”
Hydrocephalus is the “buildup of fluid in the cavities (ventricles) deep within the brain, according to Mayo Clinic. The excess fluid puts pressure on the brain and can “damage brain tissues and cause a range of brain function problems.”
Minor breathing issuesÂ
Nick described Zen as a perfectly chilled little guy and didn’t think anything of it when his son was having minor breathing issues at two months old. However, Nick and Alyssa took their son to the doctors where they were hit with devastating news.
Doctors told the host that Zen had fluid building in his head, and the child was eventually diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
After subsequent surgeries and procedures, Cannon said around Thanksgiving Zen’s condition took a turn and the baby’s tumor began to grow faster.
Nick and Alyssa spent the weekend saying goodbye to their son as they watched the sunset and sunrise with baby Zen in their arms. Zen died on Sunday morning.

As expected, both Alyssa and Nick are broken by the loss of their son and will be taking time to grieve the loss of their precious little boy.
Alyssa also has a young daughter and Nick is also a father to six other children including 10-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe with ex Mariah Carey.
He also shares four-year-old Golden Sagon, with model Brittany Bell. Brittany and Nick also welcomed their second child together, a girl named Powerful Queen, in December 2020.
In 2021, just nine days before Zen’s birth, Nick also welcomed twins – Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Abby De La Rosa.
