Paradise Resort: Could This Be The Ultimate Gold Coast Family Holiday Destination?

Family holidays can strike fear into the hearts of many parents. Travelling with young children is never not always easy and often just the thought of staying in resort accommodation is enough to get the heart racing… and not in a good way!

Parents everywhere all say the same thing.  They just want to get somewhere gorgeous, unpack, unwind, have a well-earned drink and let the kids run free.

For years I’ve heard that Paradise Resort on the Gold Coast is your ‘one-stop holiday destination for families’. Wait, what? A RESORT for families? Have our prayers finally been answered?

This I had to see.

My husband and I travel often with our two sons and it is rarely much of a holiday…if you know what I mean! But this time it was different.  When we arrived, there was something extremely comforting about a destination that welcomes your kids, where the staff make your kids feel welcome and where excited screams are not frowned upon.

Paradise Resort is set on a 5 acres in Surfers Paradise, about a 10 minute walk to Cavill Mall, shopping and entertainment. The resort offers a myriad of facilities to satisfy even the youngest of kids with something for everyone. From the Planet Chill Ice Skating Rink to the ZK4 Waterpark, there’s something to keep the kids amused from sun up to sundown.  It’s a short drive to the well renowned Gold Coast Theme Parks including Sea World, Dreamworld, Wet n Wild, Movie World and White Water World.

We stayed in a King Bunkhouse room, named for its king-size bed for mum & dad and a separate bunk layout for the kids. The boys were well occupied with their own TV AND Xbox and it kept them out of our hair! The room was huge with enough space for the kids to run around as well as a decent sized balcony overlooking the huge swimming pools and water parks. Now, to be honest, the rooms are a bit worn well-loved and could probably do with some refurbishment BUT everything was clean and in good working order. Actually, it probably made the stay even more relaxing. You know that sickening feeling you get when you’re holidaying with 2 young kids somewhere glamorous, modern and expensive? Neither do I but I’m sure it would be far more stressful than our experience ☺ king-bunkhouse-paradise

The Jennings Family PARADISE TOP 5:

1. FREE Kids Club

Included in your stay is a DAILY session for each of your kids in their famous Kids Club. Choose from 10-2 or 4-8. They even have a late night Friday and Saturday to 10.30 for the older kids! It’s a great opportunity to have some time to yourselves while the kids hang out with other kids their age. They offer a huge range of fun activities and crafts and best of all, if you’re staying there it’s FREE, Niente, NIL!

2.  Huge Range of Daily Activities

The daily activities at the resort were amazing, especially to entertain the little ones. Some of our favourites included movie nights, cupcake decorating, family treasure hunt, fancy dress competitions, krazy kraft, rock climbing and giant connect 4. They even have blind cocktail and beer tasting competitions for the adults! AHEM…YUM! You’ll be hard-pressed not to love their massive indoor playground, perfect for the kids to burn off all that energy while mum and dad can actually have some adult conversation and some down time. paradise-activities

3. Planet Chill Ice Skating Rink

Offering 4 sessions per day, kids big and small can have a blast skating around the rink. There are even some cute little penguins to help the little ones keep their balance. The sessions do cost $20 each although for the fun and the looks on their faces, it’s money well spent! Ice-Skating-Paradise

4.  Z4K Waterpark

There is a MASSIVE waterpark featuring waterslides adjacent to the main pool. The huge swimming and pool and spa are heated, so perfect for the not-so-hot days and the Adult Zone comes complete with a heated Jacuzzi. This place has seriously thought of everything but watch out for the gigantic water bucket – it will DRENCH you!

WATCH:  Rather than bore you with a bunch of photos of the waterpark, we strapped on the GoPro Camera onto our 4 year old son James and let the movie do the talking.  What do you think?

5.  Amazing Customer Service

Overall, I was incredibly impressed by our experience at the resort. The staff all love kids [well, at least they act like they do!], make you feel so welcome and go above and beyond to make your stay one to remember. I loved that the staff made each and every child feel like they’re number one. We’d always get asked what we were up to each day at breakfast and the kids loved sharing all their exciting news with everyone who cared to ask!

The resort also features:

  • Zagames Bistro for breakfast, lunch & dinner 7 days
  • Poolside Café for light snacks, coffee & cocktails
  • Internet Kiosk
  • Fully stocked mini mart & bottle shop
  • Games Room
  • Guest Laundry
  • Undercover Car Parking
  • Cardio Gym
  • Resort Shop

Seriously, this place has everything at your fingertips to ensure a hassle free and enjoyable holiday. Best of all, it doesn’t break the bank and a Resort Room for  a family of 4 starts at $169 per night. Seriously good value!

My Top 3 Tips for Holidays at Paradise Resort:

  1. Be sure to check the kids into the daily kids club – if not every day, at least for a few sessions so you and your partner can enjoy some much needed time out.
  2. Don’t plan activities for every day you’re there. Be sure to block out some lazy days at the resort to take advantage of the huge range of activities on offer.
  3. Take advantage of all the facilities on offer. They have thought of everything that a family may need to enjoy their holiday. Seriously. Their coin operated laundry was super fast meaning you can wash and dry a load in under an hour (which means we’ll pack less next time, that’s for sure!)

So there you have it!  Hands down we loved our stay at Paradise Resort.

They’ve certainly earned themselves our Mum’s Choice Thumbs Up Award!

Bravo!
