A FURY of family fun

Michael Cera voices the underdog Hank, who finds himself in a town full of cats and in need of a hero to defend them from a ruthless villain’s evil plot to wipe their village off the map.

With help from a reluctant teacher (Samuel L. Jackson) to train him, hard-on-his-luck Hank must assume the role of town samurai and team up with the villagers to save the day.

The only problem? Cats hate dogs!

The film also stars the wonderful and familiar voices of Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Kylie Kuioka, and Cathy Shim.

The film is full of funny felines, slapstick situations, cheeky characters and plenty of parodies from classic films that us parents are sure to recognise.

In fact, the film is a loose adaptation of the 1974 film, Blazing Saddles. In the trailer alone we can spot several references to other films too – can you?

More school holiday fun

If you’re after a few other ideas to keep them happy and entertained during the school holidays check out a few of our previous posts with some great ideas.

Here are a few more ideas to add to the list

Set up a painting party – Paint-by-Numbers are also great for creative kids and adults too. You can pick up canvases and scrolls, ready to paint, at Kmart or Kaiser Craft. There are also heaps of YouTube videos that you can follow.

Rock painting – Stick to the painting theme by going to a nearby creek, collecting some rocks before the party, washing them and having them ready to paint. Sharpies are good for rock painting as are these Paint Markets from Kmart ($8).

Can’t decide what to do? Make a school holidays activity jar!  Simply write out a few activity suggestions on popsicle sticks (or pieces of cardboard), place them into a jar and get your kids to pull out a suggestion. Easy peasy!
