Product description
Liquid drain cleaner used in a domestic environment to unblock drains. The product contains 190g/L of Sodium Hydroxide and is a Scheduled Poison S6 and a Dangerous Good Class 8 Corrosive.
This recall was first published on 17 April 2014 (PRA 2014/14064). The recall is being re-advertised in order to alert consumers to the hazard of the Child-Resistant Cap not locking securely and improve the return rate.

What are the defects?
The child resistant cap has been associated with a potential safety hazard where the cap may be ineffective and not lock securely on the bottle.
What are the hazards?
Drain cleaner is a poisonous and corrosive substance. If the bottle tips over or is dropped and the cap fails, the corrosive contents could splash on the user or bystander, potentially causing personal injury. Young children may be able to open the bottle and come into contact with or consume its contents, which are poisonous and corrosive.

What should consumers do?
Customers should immediately dispose of any Select Drain Cleaner 1 Litre marked with “Made in China” by following the usage directions as indicated on the label and thoroughly rinse out the container and cap with cold water. A receipt for the product and/or rinsed out bottle can be presented to any Woolworths or Safeway store for a full refund.
