A shocking case out of Brazil has left the nation reeling after a three-year-old girl, Isabelly de Oliveira Assumpção, tragically drowned in washing machine. Her stepmother, 27-year-old Suzana Dazar dos Santos, has now been formally charged with intentional homicide, with prosecutors alleging she lured the toddler into the machine using toys before leaving her unsupervised to drown.
“When I realised what he was trying to get my attention for, I ran to the bathroom and saw Ashley face down in the water.”
In less than one year, Kaila Nix and Drew Schock have lost two of their children. Her daughter died in a hot car. Her son drowned in a backyard pool. Both were under their grandmother’s care at the time.
“They jumped on the slide and came down and went in the water but didn’t come back up. They were pushing down on each other to get up. I was so scared to see them in the water, not coming out.”
