What mum doesnโt want to wear designer labels? Oh wait, you can’t stomachย the high price tag? Well, get ready to save big! Game changer ahead: TK Maxx is coming to Australia!ย
Global discount chain TK Maxx (known as TJ Maxx in the U.S. market) is making its way to Australia โ and you might want to celebrate. Why? Well if you love to shop and love your labels you’re about to find a new favourite retailer!ย What you won’t find is bottom-line, cheapo, off-brand clothes. Oh no. Instead, youโll find top nameย labels but, possibly last seasonโs looks, heavily discounted.

Parent company TJX Companies Inc. recently bought Australian discount retailer Trade Secret. The U.S.-based company (they also have stores across Europe) has plans to turn 35 of the Trade Secret stores in TK Maxxโs starting in April 2017.
Unlike well-known stores such as Target or Kmart, TK Maxx wonโt necessarily have a predictable line up of brands. Instead of carrying their own brands, TK Maxx negotiates deals with other manufacturers. How? Well, the manufacturer may make too much of a product, not sell enough of it or may need to clear out their stock in order to make room for the new seasonโs looks. TK Maxx buyers get major deals on these items, and then pass the savings on to the consumers. Thatโs a win for you!

TJX spokesperson Tessa Buenen told Inside Retail, โAustralian shoppers are extremely savvy and value oriented, so we think our offer is going to be a winning formula here and weโre very excited about our growth opportunities for this market.โ
The Daily Telegraph has revealed that roll out locations will begin where existing Trade Secret stores are operation, showing this map of where TK Maxx will roll out in New South Wales.

Even though youโll be able to expect mega savings, you canโt expect that youโll always find exactly what youโre looking for. That fashionable top you saw in a magazine may be at TK Maxx one day and gone the next. You may go in looking for a simple skirt and come out with a designer jacket at a price that makes your eyes pop out (in a totally good way). Itโs like a mini treasure hunt every time you walk in the store. Buenen notes, โbecause of the way we buy, we have several deliveries per week with thousands of new products hitting shop floors.โ She adds, โThis means that no two stores are the same, and with new products arriving regularly there will always be something new and fresh for shoppers to discover on a visit to our stores.โ
This is good news for all of us mums. With a revolving array of items, TK Maxx offers everyone the chance to find their wardrobe must-haves without the crazy-high price tag.
