You can now add another check to the list of things you can get from Costco – married.Â
That’s right. The supermarket on steroids not only sells EVERYTHING (from coffins to engagement rings), but you can also hire the aisles out for your dream wedding.
Just ask Sue Berkeley, a self-confessed Costco fanatic who married her partner at her local Costco store over the weekend. Sue and Eli Bob are the first couple in Australia and the second in the world to tie the knot at the discount superstore.
Bride walks down the tyre aisle
With 90 of their closest family and friends (and dozens of confused customers) looking on, the Western Sydney couple said “I do” at Costco Crosswords in Casulato.
Sue’s two adult sons walked her down the tyre aisle where she met her husband-to-be at the food court. After exchanging vows, the Costco couple and their guests enjoyed a feast of massive pizzas, meat pies and hot dogs. And the cake? From Costco, of course!
The dream wedding may have left a big impact on Costco lovers everywhere, but it certainly didn’t leave much of a dent in the savvy couple’s wallets. The Costco wedding only set the pair back about $10 a head. No word on whether or not the happy couple also had to pay the Costco membership fee for every guest.
Wedding day goals
The couple say the idea to get married at Costco started as a joke, but soon grew on them.
“I get to go to Costco on my wedding day, it’s just awesome,” Ms Berkeley said. “Where else can I get married to the one I love, in the place that I love, surrounded by the people I love?”
Although we suspected the couple might head to Aldi for their honeymoon, they have confirmed that they will spend their first weeks as man and wife on a cruise instead.
