December isn’t just the most popular month for parties and an overload of cheese. It’s also the most popular month to conceive!

According to new data, December is baby-making month for many with three of the top five most fertile days of the year being in December.

We’re not sure whether it’s the Christmas cheer, the champagne, the Michael Buble music or the whole Sexy Santa look but something is jingling our bells!

This data aligns with the most popular birth month for Aussie babies too, which happens to be September. Ahhh… it all makes sense!
So what days are the most fertile days on the calendar??? And what days are the most popular dates for births in Australia? All shall be revealed!!!

‘Tis the season to be horny

Analysis of the ABS birth census by women’s wellness brand, NaturoBest has revealed new data that confirms Aussies are getting pregnant more across December than any other time of year.

And the most fertile day of the year happens to be the day Santa starts his trek from the North Pole, just in time for your husband to showcase his North Pole.

December 24th!

It’s not just Santa who is coming to town

So here’s my partner and I are putting together a trampoline on Christmas Eve and here’s every other couple in Australia having their own bouncing party in the bedroom.

How did I miss this memo???

After December 24th, July 14th comes in as the second most fertile day of the year, followed closely by December 29th and then December 30th.

Let’s focus on December 29th and December 30th when, again, it kind of makes sense that people are doing it more cause there’s not a whole heck of a lot else to do during that weird week between Christmas and New Year when you’re in this Christmas cheese coma and not sure what day it is.

Most of us aren’t working. The kids are usually still preoccupied with their Christmas toys to be annoying us. So might as well get in a quickie or two.

Now, I’ll touch briefly on July 14th just to share that Google tells me this is Bastille Day in France. It’s also National Mac and Cheese Day, which is a gouda enough reason to have sex in my books.

An influx of September Babies

Now, let’s leave the cheese jokes and the bedroom for a moment and head to the delivery room where the most common day for babies to be born in Australia is… drum roll – September 17th. And just like that – the maths are mathing!

September also happens to be the most popular birth month, with Virgo touted as the most popular star sign.

Below are the full most fertile days of the year followed by the most common birthdates in Australia:

  1. September 17th
  2. September 24th
  3. October 1st
  4. April 8th
  5. February 12th

Why are more people conceiving during these specific days?

NaturoBest founder and fertility Naturopath, Nikki Warren, offers insights into the festive phenomenon.  She said, “The idea of a baby conceived over the Christmas break potentially suits a lot of couples as you are in a more relaxed frame of mind.”
It comes down to more free time, and less stress which means lower cortisol, higher fertility and higher libido. But we all know that the excess cheese and wine probably have something to do with it too.
In terms of the most popular holidays to conceive, Boxing Day wins, beating out Valentine’s Day for the Number 1 Holiday Doing-It Day.

Most Popular Holiday Doing-It Day

  1. December 26th (Boxing Day)
  2. February 14th (Valentine’s Day)
  3. April 25th (ANZAC Day)
  4. December 31st (New Year’s Eve)
  5. January 26th (Australia Day)

So, if you’re TTC this December, you’re in good company! And just think, when someone asks you what you got for Christmas, you get to say, “Pregnant. I got pregnant.” The greatest gift of all. After cheese, of course.
