Gold, Gold and More Gold: Why Babybee Is the Best Pram Brand in Australia

Some brands win an award. Babybee wins the whole night. For the second year running, Australian parents have voted Babybee Best Brand, Best Product and Best Double Pram at the Mum Central Awards. And when you add a stack of GOLD wins at the 2026 Bounty Awards on top, it gets hard to argue with what parents are telling us.

Babybee is the best pram brand in Australia right now. (Yes, we said it.)

So we did what any nosy editor would do. We went straight to the source to find out what’s actually going on behind those trophies.

The Trophy Cabinet is Getting Crowded

At the 2026 Mum Central Awards, Babybee took home the following gold medals:

  • GOLD Best Brand of the Year (BABYBEE)
  • GOLD Best Product of the Year (JUNO)
  • GOLD Best Double Pram (JUNO)
  • GOLD Best Travel Product (ARLO)
  • GOLD Best Cot, Bassinet or Co-Sleeper (POD2)

And at the 2026 Bounty Awards, it was a gold rush too:

  • GOLD Best Australian Brand
  • GOLD Best Up + Coming Brand
  • GOLD Best Double Pram (JUNO)
  • GOLD Best Pram Over $1000 (JUNO)
  • GOLD Best Nursery Item (POD2)
  • GOLD Best Travel Product (ARLO)
  • GOLD Best Developmental Product for Baby (OLLIE)

Throw in a Good Design Award for JUNO in 2025 and you’ve got a brand that’s being backed by parents, judges and design experts all at once.

“Of course we’d love Babybee to become Australia’s leading pram brand, but success for us has never just been about market share. What excites me most is continuing to raise the standard of what parents should expect.”

And it’s not just the judges. Babybee has also won ProductReview.com.au’s Best Pram Award four years running, voted by actual parents, which is the only review that really counts.

Which raises the obvious question. What is it about Babybee that has Aussie parents this loyal?

The Babybee Story: It All Started as a Side Project

Babybee didn’t launch with a glossy ad campaign and a celebrity ambassador. It started in 2015 as a side project for Emily and her partner Lucas.

They’d been watching direct-to-consumer brands take off overseas and had a lightbulb moment. What if you cut out all the middle layers of traditional retail and put that money back into the pram itself? Better materials. Better quality. Better design.

Australian parents got it straight away. The early response was strong enough that Emily and Lucas knew they had to give it a proper crack, and Babybee became Emily’s full-time focus.

And because they were selling direct, they were also talking direct. Every review, every email, every “I love it but …” came straight back to them. That relationship shaped everything that came next, and Babybee grew from a pram start-up into a full parenting brand across prams, travel, sleep and play.

Ask Emily what keeps her going and it’s not the sales figures.

“Some of the most rewarding moments still happen at expos when customers come up and thank me for creating their pram, or tell me about a feature that’s genuinely made their life with a baby easier.”

Honestly? That’s the bit that gets us too. As a small business owner myself, I can tell you there’s no better feeling than a customer saying you’ve made their life easier. Not the sales, not the trophies (okay, the trophies are nice). And Babybee gets that feeling on repeat. Because let’s be real, a great pram isn’t a luxury. It’s survival gear.

“Our community has always been at the heart of Babybee. They’re the reason we’ve been able to keep improving year after year, and I never take that trust for granted.”

Parent-led Innovation: They Ask. A Lot.

Here’s the thing about parenting. No two parents have the exact same experience. One mum is wrangling a toddler and a newborn up a hill in Adelaide. Another is folding a pram into a hatchback in a Sydney car park in the rain.

So Babybee asks as many parents as it can.

“Innovation isn’t something that happens once every few years. For us it’s continuous. We’re constantly gathering customer feedback, studying emerging technologies, working alongside world-class engineers and asking ourselves how we can make everyday parenting just a little bit easier.”

Feedback at Babybee is a Constant Loop

Reviews, surveys, customer service tickets, chats at expos and in the showroom. Those insights feed into design, prototypes go out for testing with real parents, they get refined, tested again, and surveyed again. Even after launch, it doesn’t stop.

How often do they actually look at all this? “Every week, almost daily!” according to the team.

Want proof it changes things? When developing ALTO, the team tested mesh, hard-shell and different foam seat backs. Everyone expected mesh to win. Parents disagreed. They found the comfort foam more comfortable on longer outings, and said the mesh’s cooling benefit basically vanished once a seat liner went in. So foam it was.

It’s the small stuff too. Where the storage sits. One-handed adjustments. How easily it folds when you’ve got a baby on your hip.

“Often, they’re tiny details that nobody notices until they realise how much easier the product feels to use.”

Emily still leads product development in-house in Australia, with a small team bringing product, design, and real parenting experience. They work alongside some of the world’s leading pram engineers, trusted manufacturing partners and independent third-party quality and safety testers.

What Makes Babybee Prams the Best Pram Brand in Australia?

This is where it gets fun, because JUNO and ALTO are basically that whole philosophy with wheels on.

JUNO: The Double That Doesn’t Feel Like a Double

Emily spent more than four years developing JUNO from scratch. The brief? A single-to-double pram without all the compromises parents usually have to live with.

And the team went full detective.

They obsessed over what parents said mattered most: how it pushes, how it handles, how it folds, how it carries and how it adapts as the family grows. Because a double that’s a nightmare to steer, won’t fit in the boot or turns every shopping centre into an obstacle course isn’t really helping anyone, is it?

When the first production run came together at the factory, she rang Lucas and told him she reckoned they’d be on rolling backorders for months. She was right.

What sets JUNO apart:

  • Aeronautical-grade aluminium frame with advanced suspension
  • Premium wheels and precision ball bearings for a seriously smooth push
  • A huge 15kg capacity storage basket that’s actually unobstructed
  • Full-size seats and flexible configurations as your family grows

It’s the double that doesn’t feel like a double. You get all the capability of a serious double with the handling, storage and premium feel of a great single. Growing families don’t have to choose. And yes, it’s the one that keeps taking home Best Double Pram.

ALTO: A Full-Size Single, Rethought

ALTO was built to ask a cheeky question: what should parents actually expect from a full-size single pram? Turns out, a lot more than they’d been getting.

The answer starts with its patented Australian-first folding bassinet, which folds in half while still attached to the pram. At just 10.8kg, ALTO is the lightest folding-bassinet pram on the market, and you can fold it one-handed with the bassinet on, the seat facing either way, or the frame alone. Anyone who’s ever tried to collapse a pram with a baby on one hip, or a precious coffee they refuse to put down, knows exactly how big a deal that is.

Then there’s the rest of the spec sheet:

  • 7.5kg aeronautical-grade aluminium frame
  • Advanced all-wheel suspension and precision ball bearings
  • FlexCell™ wheel technology
  • A tall flat-lay seat from newborn to 22kg
  • A generous 13kg basket
  • Integrated UPF50+ sun and sleep protection

This isn’t a standard pram with a few premium extras bolted on. ALTO was engineered from the ground up to solve the biggest everyday frustrations parents told Babybee about, and in the process, it’s set a whole new benchmark for what a single pram can do.

And because Babybee backs its gear, full-size prams come with a Lifetime Warranty. That’s confidence you can push.

“You don’t need to be the biggest brand to have the best ideas. If you stay curious, listen to your customers and genuinely care about making their lives easier, you can create something really special.”

Raising the Standard

So, what’s behind all the gold? It’s not one thing. It’s a homegrown brand that listens harder, tests longer and sweats the details most of us never think about until we’re halfway through a school drop-off.

“The thing I’m most proud of isn’t how much Babybee has grown, it’s when a parent tells me we’ve made their everyday life that little bit easier. That’s ultimately what we’re here to do.”

Emily tells Mum Central they’ve never wanted to make products that are simply good enough. Raising the standard means constantly asking what could be better. Better design, better innovation, better quality and a better experience for parents.

And where to next?

“We want to keep challenging what parents should expect from this category and prove that an Australian brand can lead the way in design and innovation. If we keep raising that standard, the growth will follow.”

On this form, we wouldn’t bet against them.
