Pram Buying Checklist:
- What’s your budget? $500 or $3000? Pram prices vary A LOT. Settle this with your partner first and it will save a whole lot of heartbreak later on.
- How do you intend to use your pram? Do you need a pram that’s easy to get on and off the bus, fits in a small boot or something robust and puncture-free for getting around the farm? These are things you need to take into consideration.
- Storing your pram, where? Before making your choice and definitely before finalising your purchase, make sure your pram FITS. Big prams don’t always fit into a tiny hatchback boot space. Just saying.
- How many kids? It’s weird to think about subsequent children, especially when you might be expecting your first baby, BUT if you’re 100% sold on expanding your family quickly, you may want to consider things like extra seats, single to double capabilities or ride-on boards.
- Think about what you REALLY want. What really matters to you? If you’re going to be out and about a lot, looks and function might be top of your list. If you don’t plan on using a pram a lot, perhaps a space-saving option is important to you. A friend of mine had the type of stroller that some Mums or Dads use when jogging. One large wheel at the front.
I had need to take it on a bus one day. If the bus is not in close enough to the kerb it can be very difficult or in some cases quite dangerous when use a bus. I actually found it more dangerous getting off the bus, especially if you have to get off at the middle of the bus. Lucky another passenger saw my problem and helped me. You definitely need 2 free hands, especially with a newborn. I also had problems with a 4 wheel stroller on one occasion too.
