Your floors are crying for help. We heard them. You know that specific kind of tired, the one where you’ve just vacuumed the lounge, turned around to deal with a child or a dog (or both!), and come back to find the floor looking exactly like you did nothing? Yeah, we get you.
The vacuum you own is supposed to fix that. If it isn’t, it’s not doing its job.
So if you’re deep into researching the best cordless vacuum in Australia right now, or hunting for the best vacuum for pet hair that can actually keep up with real family life, you’re in the right place. This is our full BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush Review, and we did not go easy on it.

First things first. BISSELL has been making cleaning products for 150 years, and their latest release, the PowerClean DualBrush cordless stick vacuum, is the one busy family homes like ours have genuinely been waiting for. Two batteries. Dual brushes. Smart suction that reads the mess and responds. Lightweight at just 4.1kg, and a self-standing design, so you can put it down mid-clean without it becoming a trip hazard while you sort out whatever chaos just erupted in the next room.
We gave it to Ashley (a mum of one very energetic toddler), and Helen (a mum of two kids and a dog named Flossi, who treats every soft surface in the house as her personal grooming station.)
Both reviewed it in their own homes with their own mess.
Neither pulled punches.
Both gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
Here’s everything they found and why this vacuum does what it says … leave nothing behind.
But first, we’re excited to share that we’re giving one away.
One lucky Mum Central reader will win a BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush cordless vacuum, valued at $599. Keep on scrolling and complete the entry form at the bottom of the page to enter. But first, let’s find out what our two mums really thought when they put the BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush through its paces … kids, dogs and all!

BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush: What’s it all about?
Before we get into the reviews, here’s what makes this one land differently to the vacuum cleaner you’ve been putting up with.
1. Two batteries, so you actually finish the job. Most cordless vacuums supply one battery and, if your home is a decent size, you know exactly what that means … running out of charge halfway down the hallway. The PowerClean DualBrush comes with 2 x removable 25.2V lithium-ion batteries, each delivering up to 50 minutes of run time. That’s up to 100 minutes total. The whole house, the stairs, the car. Swap the battery and keep going. No three-hour wait for the battery to recharge.
2. DualBrush™ Technology, because one brush was never going to cut it. The floorhead has two brushes working together: one loosens embedded dirt and pet hair, the other picks up everything from fine dust to crumbs and kibble. One pass. Actually clean. Not just pushing the dirt around. Hallelujah!
3. AutoAdapt™ Suction that thinks for you. Hit a dirtier patch, and the suction automatically boosts by up to 75%. You don’t stop, switch modes, or do anything differently. It reads the floor and reacts. Crushed crackers ground into the carpet? It knows.

4. HEPA Sealed Allergen System, for easier breathing. It captures 99.7% of dust and allergens and keeps them locked inside, not blown back across the room. For families with asthma, dust sensitivities, or pets, this isn’t a bonus. It’s the whole point.
5. Self-standing design. It’s a simple idea, but it changes everything. This vacuum stands on its own. It might sound like a small thing, but ask anyone who actually uses it mid-clean with kids in the house, and they’ll tell you it’s not.
6. What’s in the box? Â This baby comes loaded with everything you actually need from day one. In the box you’ll find the Motorised FurFinder Upholstery Tool for furniture and stairs, a Wall Mountable Charging Dock, a Combination Dusting Brush and Crevice Tool for tight spaces and skirting boards, two batteries so you never stop mid-clean, and a Charging Cable. No hunting for attachments sold separately. No awkward wall mount purchases. It’s all there.

Ashley’s Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mum of One, Wife of a Builder, Owner of the World’s Most Crumbed Rug
5 stars. 100/100 performance score compared to her previous vacuum.
Ashley came to this review as a Miele corded vacuum owner. Good machine, but one that lived in a cupboard and required a full commitment every time she needed to use it. Which, when you have a toddler, is constantly.
The PowerClean DualBrush lives in her laundry now, standing upright, charging, ready to grab whenever she needs it.
The self-standing design got her immediately. No leaning against walls, no blocking doorways, no hunting for somewhere to prop it while she sorted out a small human emergency. She described it as the standout feature of the whole machine, and once you understand that a toddler needs you mid-clean approximately every four minutes, you get why.

Then she put the DualBrush floorhead through what can only be described as a controlled demolition test. Crumbled biscuits, big chunks, hundreds and thousands, all mixed on her vinyl floors. Chunks up to 2cm. She ran the vacuum over it once. Everything went. The huge chunks and the tiny crumbs, one pass. Didn’t push anything around.
She was, in her own words, shocked.

The AutoAdapt™ Suction became her favourite feature fast. She’d always assumed a vacuum just needed to run on full to work properly. The AutoAdapt system changed that thinking entirely, kicking in automatically on bigger messes without her lifting a finger. She hasn’t needed the full top setting once. The medium boost has handled everything her toddler has thrown at it.
I genuinely couldn’t believe how much it picked up. I went over a patch of carpet I thought was clean and the bin was half full. I don’t know whether to be impressed or horrified.
On batteries: Ashley uses one for daily mess-chasing, and gets through about 1.5 batteries on her big whole-home clean every couple of days. No stopping. No waiting. No half-finished floors. She mentioned that not having to stop mid-clean and wait hours to recharge was something she actively bragged about to friends. Which, honestly, is a review in itself.

Her testimonial says it all.
“As a mum to a toddler and wife to a builder, the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush is my partner in chaos. An absolute essential for mums and families keeping on top of everyday messes.
“Cannot thank you enough for bringing this vacuum into my life, who would’ve thought I’d love an appliance this much!!!”
Ashley. We felt that.

Helen’s Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dog Mum, Dyson Owner, Newly Converted
5 stars. Near-perfect scores across every category.
Helen is the toughest crowd. She already owns a Dyson. She has a large two-storey home with every floor type you can imagine, two kids, and Flossi, a black Labrador who sheds with absolutely no remorse and has decided the lounge is her bed.
“It actually picked up the hair that was embedded in my rug. Embedded. I’ve been trying to get that out for months. I nearly cried.”
The LED light at the front of the vacuum stopped her cold on day one. It illuminates everything hiding on the floor that your regular lighting misses. Helen described it as helpful and confronting in equal measure. The amount of fur and dust that showed up on what she thought was a reasonably clean rug? Let’s just say it was a lot.
“Honestly, a little horrified by what it got out of our rug”

One pass of the DualBrush floorhead on that loungeroom rug and the canister was nearly full. One pass. On a rug she vacuumed regularly. The dual brushes get into the pile in a way that clearly wasn’t happening with her previous machine, and the result was a clean she hadn’t seen from her floors in … well, she couldn’t remember when.
“I’d vacuum and by the next morning it looked like I’d never touched it. I went through two vacuums in 18 months because the pet hair just killed the motors.”
For Helen’s family, the HEPA Sealed Allergen System is non-negotiable. Her husband has asthma, and her son reacts to dust, so every appliance she brings into the house gets assessed on this front first. The BISSELL passed. 99.7% of dust and allergens captured and locked inside, not floating back into the room after you’ve put the vacuum away.
Battery life was a genuine problem in her old setup. A two-storey home is a big ask for a single-battery cordless vacuum, and she knew it. The dual battery system sorted it completely. She vacuums the whole house now and still has charge left over. She got the car done in the same session. That had never happened before with a cordless. Now it just … does.

The self-standing design earned the same reaction from Helen as it did from Ashley. She has no space for a wall mount, and getting interrupted mid-clean is just part of her reality. Being able to put it down exactly where she is and walk away without any fuss made a real difference to how she actually cleans.
And Flossi’s couch? The Furfinder Upholstery Tool handled it. The stairs, the tight corners, the fur-collecting nooks, all covered with attachments that clip on and off without needing to consult a manual.
Her recommendation?
“Absolutely great value at $599. I would recommend it to anyone with pets who feel like their house is never free of fur. It’s made a huge difference in our home.”
The Verdict
Two women with genuinely different homes, genuinely different messes and genuinely high standards. Both 5 stars. Both said they’d recommend it without hesitation. When that happens, we pay attention.
