The year was 2000. Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears and their matching double denim and blonde hair ruled our worlds. They were the ‘It’ couple and it was Heartbreak City when they parted ways.
Both Britney and Justin have remained in the spotlight separately but Britney has certainly paved a controversial path since splitting from the singer.
Recently the singer spilled some pretty shocking news about her time with Justin Timberlake, sharing that when they were together, Britney got pregnant but the pair opted for an abortion.
‘He didn’t want to be a father’
Britney explained what happened in her new memoir, The Woman in Me, which is set to be released on 24 October 2023. Britney shared the excerpt with People, admitting that she and Justin fell pregnant in 2000.
Justin wasn’t ready to be a dad just yet and they both agreed to abort the baby.
It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.
But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.
I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.
To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Britney and Justin’s love story
Let’s rewind to 1992, when kids were allowed to play on the streets and an innocent and adorable Britney Spears met the equally sweet Justin Timberlake for the first time at The Mickey Mouse Club.
Britney was just 12 years old and admits she felt connected to him right away, even playing Truth and Dare at a sleepover where Justin was dared to kiss her.
From 1999 to 2002, the pair dated and were the golden couple for a long time. Both admit that their young love was very intense and that they meant a lot to one another.
Britney writes in her memoir that she fell pregnant in 2000. Britney was still a teen and Justin would have been 20. They had both been in the music industry for a few years but, realistically, they were still very very young.
It’s not exactly known what caused the couple to split up two years later, but Justin’s music alludes to the idea that perhaps Britney cheated on him. We may learn Britney’s side of the story soon if she discloses what exactly happened in her memoir.
Britney’s roller coaster rideÂ
Of course, dating Justin was only one tiny chapter in Britney’s story so far. She’s been through A LOT and continues to hold her head up high and shake her tail feathers in questionable attire on Instagram.
She’s a mother of two boys – Sean and Jayden -with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. At this stage, Britney rarely sees her two boys, who are now 18 and 17.
Britney also announced a pregnancy with her third husband, Sam Asghari before sharing the sad news that the pregnancy ended in miscarriage. She’s also currently dealing with the breakdown of her marriage to Sam.
Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake also has two boys – Silas and Phineas – with his wife, Jessica Biel. The pair have been together since 2007 and are very private.
