The Legends have some very exciting baby news! Just five months after adding Esti to the clan, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have shared the news of their son’s birth.
Welcome Wren Alexander!
Wren was born on 19 June 2023 via surrogate. While the family didn’t share the news they were expecting another baby, they have since been very open about the surrogacy journey.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” Chrissy, 37 said on Instagram.
Chrissy and John had two children – Miles and Luna, when they fell pregnant with their third baby, a little boy. Tragically, they lost their son, Jack, at 20 weeks gestation in 2020.
After this, Chrissy wasn’t sure if she would be able to have any more children biologically so the couple began to explore surrogacy as an option.
“After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own.
To be honest, I’ve personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again.”
A double pregnancy
The trauma of losing Jack left Chrissy nervous to fall pregnant again but in 2021 Chrissy and John decided to go through IVF again – the same process they used for their first two children, Luna, 7 and Miles, 5.
The couple fell pregnant with their daughter Esti and around the same time, they also met Alexandra.
“All our wishes and dreams aligned. I wanted to be her friend, I wanted our children to play, I wanted dinner together, I wanted to lay my head on her belly and be able to feel the hiccups and kicks. I wanted them to be in our lives.”
The first embryo transfer did not survive but the second one did and Alexandra learned she was pregnant while Chrissy was already pregnant with Esti.
Alexandra and Chrissy spent their pregnancies together, watching movies and sharing a positive pregnancy space, their “families blended into one for the past year.”
Chrissy then welcomed Esti into their tribe and now, Wren Alexander (named after Alexandra) joins them just five months later.
“We want to say thank you for this incredible gift, Alexandra,. And we are so happy to tell the world that he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephans.
Our hearts, and our home, are officially full. And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you.”
Congratulations to this beautiful family!
