Coles Pokemon Collectables Coming Soon: Catch ‘Em All!

Get your collectable shelves ready – Coles will be giving away cult favourite Pokémon collectables very soon!

The Pokémon Builder Characters are the latest in the grocery store collectable craze that has seen our kids collecting everything from Olympics cards to tiny grocery store items. We’ve seen collectable Ooshies, dominoes, tiles, and character cutouts in themes such as animals, Disney, Star Wars, Harry Potter and now Pokémon.

Coles Pokemon Collectables – How it works

Like the collectables from the past, Coles will gift customers 1 x Pokémon Builder character for every $30 spent online or in-store. There will also be bonus builders available for shoppers who purchase specific items and brands such as Bega, John West, Fairy and Omo.

As in the past, shoppers will have the option to collect or opt against it at the checkout or when shopping online. But if you have kids, we predict you’ll be collecting these. They look pretty cool!

There are 35 Pokémon characters to collect including some rare finds and fan favourites. Among the 35 collectables on offer, you will find Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu.

All characters are made from 100% FSC® certified cardboard sourced from responsibly managed forests and recyclable in household recycling bins at the end of play.

In addition to the Coles Pokemon Collectables, you’ll also be able to purchase a Pokémon Collector’s Guide, as well as a range of other accessories.

The Coles Pokemon Collectables range is launching on 7 February 2024, which happens to also be the same day Coles is launching their Coles Builders Lunchbox Challenge to promote healthy eating among Aussie school kids.

Our favourite collectables so far… ranked

Woolworths and Coles have been giving away collectables for a long time now. I still remember the Woolworths Animal Cards that went off! To celebrate the newest collectables, we thought we’d put together our top 10 collectables over the years.

Let us know your favourite and if you agree with our list.

10. Woolworths Ancient Animals – One of the first collectables was the Ancient Animal collection which included a folder to place the cards.

9. Woolworths Aussie Heroes Olympic Cards – Launched around the same time as the 2020 Olympics, these were a massive hit and a great way to celebrate our Aussie sporting legends.

8. Woolworths Disney Word Tiles –  I forgot about these! We used to play memory with them but they’ve succumbed to the bin now.

7. Woolworths Ooshies –  I know there were several different Ooshies launched over the years but I’ve just grouped them all here.

6. Woolworths Garden Collectables – Discovery Garden – Woolies has launched a few different Garden collectables and they’ve always been a fun way to get kids involved in growing their herbs and veggies. My little one especially loved this project.

5. Coles Magical Builders – Before Pokemon, our kids were building DC Superheroes and Harry Potter builders. I liked these because they kept the kids occupied for a few minutes (they had to build themselves).

4. Woolworths Disney Dominoes – We still have these collectables and we still use them often as part of our building play. Sure, they are made of plastic, but we still enjoy them.

3. Coles Little Shops – We still have a few of these floating around in our Barbie collection.

2. Woolworths Bricks and Farm – First there was the supermarket set and then the farm set. Both were AMAZING!

1. Coles Fresh Stikeez – This was by far our favourite collection. My kids played with the stickable fruit and veg characters for ages and they loved how each had a different name. They’ve all gone to Toy Heaven now but they were great!

I know there have been heaps more collectables – Christmas cut-outs, Marvel Discs, Wonder Cards, etc. Which ones have been the biggest hit in your household?
