Check your medicine cabinets! Following consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration, Procter & Gamble Australia Pty Ltd is recalling a batch of their popular Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strength. The problem is due to incorrect labelling.
Some jars in this batch have been incorrectly labelled as Vicks VapoRub.
Below is everything you need to know about this Vicks VapoRub recall.
Product Recall: Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strength 100g
PRODUCT INFORMATION:Â
Batch number: 222605
Best before date:
SOLD AT:Â
Between 13 Oct 2022 and 2 Nov 2022 at Chemist Warehouse and My Chemist stores in:
- New South Wales

What’s the issue?Â
The problem lies in the fact that Vicks Vaporub Xtra Strong is a lot stronger than the regular Vicks. Use of  Vicks Vaporub Xtra Strong may cause allergic reactions (rash, blister, hives, peeling, itching or swelling) in some consumers. Â
Steam inhalation by 6-10 year old children may result in an increased risk of adverse events (ocular irritation, headache, dizziness, nausea, and tachycardia).
What should consumers do?
If you do use Vicks VapoRub Xtra Strength, be sure to check the label to see if it matches the batch number or best-before date. The affected product will have a VapoRub Xtra Strong red lid and the standard Vicks VapoRub ointment 100g label with a green element.
If it is one of the recalled items, then return it to the place of purchase for a refund or call the customer service line to arrange the return of the affected product and refund. For more information see the TGA Recall.Â
