Important Milk Recall Issued Due to Health Contamination Scare

Lion Dairy & Drinks (Lion) is undertaking a milk recall of a number of products manufactured from their WA dairy site following routine testing which showed a microbial count in excess of their quality standards.

The recall has seen hundreds of thousands of litres of milk be recalled from shelves across WA.

Some coliforms, a type of bacteria, can cause illness in people, especially young children, the elderly, and those who have a weakened immune system, causing gastrointestinal problems including cramping and diarrhoea.

Additional to the Pura, Masters and Farmers Union brands that Lion produces, Coles has issued a recall on its one-litre cartons of fresh full cream and 98% fat free hilo milk with a February 6 expiry.

Affected products should be disposed of and customers could call the Lion Consumer Enquiries Centre on 1800 677 852 for a full refund.  Coles customers can return the milk for a full refund.
