100,000 Families Affected As Aussie Farmers Direct Closes Down

No more fresh food and veg delivered directly to your door! Well, not through Aussie Farmers Direct, at least.

The iconic Australian food delivery company that started delivering milk to Aussie families 13 years ago has announced it is closing its doors.

The company has gone into receivership and will close immediately, leaving up to 260 employees out of work and 100,000 customers without their fresh milk, fruit and and veggie deliveries.

What happened?

Made for Aussie families, Aussie Farmers Direct was one of the first companies to offer fresh food delivery to your door. It started with milk, but soon expanded to include bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and other groceries. The service was unique, convenient and beneficial to Aussie families as well as farmers.

However, Aussie Farmers Direct confirmed it has gone into voluntary administration due to excess debt and very little cash.

“After 13 years of working with many of Australia’s great farmers and delivering their fresh produce to Australian families, it is hugely disappointing that it has come to this,” the company shared on its website.

“We are simply no longer able to compete against the domination of the major two supermarkets and the influx of cheap imported produce.”

Administrators KordaMentha confirmed that the company would shut its doors effective immediately. All customers will be refunded and no future orders will be delivered.

‘We love you. Goodbye’

Aussie Farmers Direct also shared a touching message with their customers stating, “From the team at Aussie Farmers Direct, thank you for your support, we love you all, and we are so sorry to be going away.

Eat well, love your family, look after your friends. Remember that dreams are fragile, and we all need each other.”

My husband and I own/owned two franchises with Aussie Farmers until today. We are devastated and are not sure what lays ahead. We mostly loved the idea of helping Aussie farmers but that aim is now crushed for now. Feeling very sad and not sure of the next step.

I feel devastated for all those wonderful franchisees who have provided such great fresh food over the years and am so disappointed that I can’t support the Aussie Farmers Direct with their products. I wish you all well in future and will find other local outlets rather than the big supermarkets which crush all the small operators. Such a sad day.
