Unlike flying, your holiday starts the moment you drive on board Spirit of Tasmania. Expect nothing but comfort, convenience and family fun as Spirit of Tasmania delivers you to your next family holiday destination.

We’re talking fresh air, sea views and the freedom to move, eat, sleep, and play, on your way to your destination. Spirit of Tasmania sails across Bass Strait between Geelong, Victoria and Devonport, Tasmania. With a new terminal in Geelong, equipped with modern facilities, a café and kids play area, Spirit of Tasmania offers an efficient, easily accessible and safe boarding process for all its passengers.

So many choices, and one amazing sailing experience

Every family is different and Spirit of Tasmania takes this into account. With endless options available, you can choose your own adventure, quite literally.

CHOOSE TO SAIL DURING THE DAY OR AT NIGHT

Both day and night journeys are around 9-11 hours but there is something so magical about sailing under the stars. Enjoy a few night time activities before retiring to your cabin. Then wake up refreshed and ready to drive straight into the road tripping paradise that is Tasmania.

CHOOSE A CABIN OR RECLINER

If you’re sailing overnight, we love the idea of a cabin, especially if you are travelling with little ones. Cots are available free of charge upon request and subject to availability. You can also choose to travel in a recliner which is a more budget-friendly option available for families with children aged 3 years and older.

There are 222 cabins (two and four-bed options) and 121 recliners on board.

CHOOSE TO WALK ON OR BRING YOUR CAR

This is one of the things that sets Spirit of Tasmania apart – you can bring your own vehicle which is incredibly convenient, especially if you do want to explore Tassie without the hassle of hiring a car or relying on tours.

Some families choose to bring their caravan too and take advantage of the many caravan parks in Tasmania.

And because you’ve got your car, you can bring as much luggage as you want (or can fit). No need to stick to the 7kg carry-on bag rule which is especially great when your daughter announces that all 18 of her Squishmallows want to make the journey too. But be sure to leave some room in the boot for all that Tassie produce you’ll want to bring home!

CHOOSE TO BRING YOUR PET

Squishmallows, stuffed animals and real animals too! All are welcome on board so kiss those pet-sitting services fees goodbye and bring your furry friend with you.

FOR THE KIDS

There’s an epic Kids Play Area. Older kids will love the Game Zone which has heaps of arcade games and a Gaming Station with Xbox consoles… The ship also features two cinemas screening the latest film releases.

During school holidays, you’ll also find family-friendly entertainment and live music.

EAT, DRINK AND INDULGE

When you’re ready for a bite to eat, pop over to TMK (Tasmanian Market Kitchen). Choose from a selection of delicious Tasmanian-inspired favourites. For the fussy eaters, there are plenty of kid-friendly options.

For something lighter, head to The Pantry for snacks, sandwiches, and souvenirs or the upper decks for pizza and toasted focaccias. And if you’re thirsty, check out one of the three bars including Bar 7, The Terrace Lounge Bar and Top Deck Lounge.
