Imagine a Gold Coast family holiday where the kids are having the time of their lives at the waterpark and you’re sipping a cocktail beside a beautiful pool. No splashing. No endless snack requests. No one asking you to watch them jump in for the 47th time.
Now that’s our kind of family holiday. And at Paradise Resort Gold Coast, it’s about to become a reality.
One of our absolute favourite family resorts is getting Oh Shun Blu (yes, Blu without the “e”), a brand-new adults-only pool and swim-up bar built purely for the grown-ups.
The best bit? The first stage is expected to open by Christmas 2026, just in time for the summer holidays.

What Is Oh Shun Blu at Paradise Resort Gold Coast?
If you’ve stayed at Paradise Resort, you’ll know it’s basically heaven for kids. There’s always something happening, from the waterparks and Kids Club to games and daily activities.
But even on the best family holiday, sometimes you just want half an hour to yourself. That’s exactly what Oh Shun Blu is for. It’s a tropical-style retreat tucked away from the busy family areas.
What’s at the new adults-only pool
Expecting to welcome its first guests this Christmas, the Oh Shun Blue adults-only precinct will offer:
- A heated 25-metre pool with built-in spa jets
- Landscaped surrounds and sun lounges
- A swim-up bar serving handcrafted cocktails and refreshments
Go for a quiet swim, read a book by the water, or finally finish a conversation with your partner without being interrupted. This part of the holiday is all about you.
The second stage, which is set to open in early 2027, will complete the space with an indoor tapas and lounge bar.
The precinct is open to Paradise Resort guests aged 18 and over only.
A Swim-Up Bar … at a Family Resort? Yes, Please!
Let’s be real. Most family holidays revolve around keeping the kids entertained. And while we love seeing their little faces light up, sometimes the grown-ups deserve something special, too.
At Oh Shun Blu, you can stretch out on a sun lounge, enjoy the heated pool or settle in for a refreshing drink without leaving the water.
The built-in spa jets sound particularly tempting after a busy morning exploring the Gold Coast. And because the precinct is located within Paradise Resort itself, there’s no need to travel elsewhere to find a grown-up escape.
Of course, children still need appropriate supervision, and any Kids Club arrangements will depend on the resort’s booking and supervision requirements. But having somewhere dedicated to adult downtime? That’s a lovely addition to an already impressive family resort.
General manager David Brook joined Paradise Resort 16 years ago when the property already had a Kids Club, activities and a clear focus on children but had not yet developed into the dedicated family resort.
“The focus on children was there, but we knew we had to keep developing the kids’ experience and make family entertainment the heart of the resort.
At the same time, in the back of my mind was always the goal of creating a dedicated zone where adults could enjoy part of the holiday for themselves.”
Don’t Worry, the Kids Still Have Their Waterpark Paradise!
Now, before you think Paradise Resort is changing its family-friendly approach, absolutely not!
The resort is already one of our favourite places for a Gold Coast getaway, and we’ve shared plenty of reasons why over the years. If you don’t know them already, Paradise Resort are situated perfectly in the heart of Surfers Paradise on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Far enough out of hte hustle and bustle but close enough to walk in!

You might have seen our recent Paradise Resort Ultimate Theme Park Playcation Review? We sent mum-of-5 Lizzie and her crew for 5 nights, to test out their theme park package and road test the resort with five kids in tow, and the whole family came home raving about their experience.
From the waterparks and Kids Club to the daily activities, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained.

The resort features two waterparks, a lagoon pool, Kids Club, a carousel, a miniature train, a games arcade, and live entertainment. So while Oh Shun Blu is giving adults something new to look forward to, the kids certainly aren’t missing out.

Even More Fun Is Coming for the Kids!
The kids are getting a few new surprises, too. The development isn’t just about the new adults-only pool. Paradise Resort is introducing additional spaces for children and families, too.
The Hub will provide a dedicated space for the resort’s children’s activities and workshops.
There’s a new outdoor lawn area designed for family movie nights under the stars, plus The Arena, an indoor entertainment space near Kids Club and the games room. Just imagine finishing a fun-filled day with a family movie under the stars. We can already picture the kids loving that.
It’s another reason this resort continues to be a favourite with families looking for a holiday where there’s plenty to do without constantly leaving the property.

“Over the past 16 years, a great deal of hard work has gone into building the waterparks, activities, entertainment and facilities that have made Paradise the family resort it is today.
Fancy a Room With Direct Pool Access?
If the adults-only pool wasn’t exciting enough, Paradise Resort is introducing 12 Deluxe Pool Access Rooms with direct access to Oh Shun Blu. That means selected guests will be able to step from their accommodation into the adults-only pool precinct.
But the plans don’t stop with the pool.
A second stage, planned for early 2027, will add an indoor tapas and lounge bar. So while the pool and swim-up bar are the first attractions to look forward to, this new adults-only experience is set to grow.

When Will Oh Shun Blu Open at Paradise Resort Gold Coast?
- The first stage of Oh Shun Blu is expected to open by Christmas 2026, although an exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed. If you’re already dreaming about your next family getaway, you can explore the new precinct and check for updates on the official Oh Shun Blu website.
And if you’ve never visited Paradise Resort before, perhaps this is the perfect excuse to start planning! Because as much as we love a holiday where the kids have an absolute ball, wouldn’t it be wonderful to come home feeling like you’ve had a proper break, too?
Waterparks for the kids. Cocktails by the pool for the grown-ups. Now THAT sounds like paradise!

Would you love an adults-only pool and swim-up bar on your next family holiday? We reckon this one’s going to be popular!
