Meet Shannon Christensen Abbott. Mother of two with the voice of angel, she’s recently taken to Facebook to share the ‘Mommy Rendition’ of the Leonard Cohen favourite Hallelujah she’d written for a local talent show. It certainly hit the mark for all the right reasons and sent her viral!

While she loves the song, she says original version’s lyrics are ‘weird’ so decided to change the lyrics to reflect her hectic life as a mum. Watch the video below, paying particular attention to her clever lyrics (especially the bit about dad sleeping through all the noise!!)

Sit right there and I’ll tell you a tale,
About a mother’s day and the mummy fails.
It’s a dirty job but someeones got to do it.
It start with diapers, spit and no sleep
You pull my hair, i scrape my knee
When nap time comes I’ll sing ‘Oh Hallelujah’
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

It’s 3am and you’re wide awake,
Baby go to sleep for heaven’s sake,
Mamma’s going to be a zombie in the morning,
Yet daddy’s asleep without a care,
How does he do that, it isn’t fair
When i get to sleep I’ll sing ‘Oh Hallelujah’
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

Now here comes Paige’s part:

Then there is my threenager, it’s like she’s three plus a teenager
she thinks she knows it all and i know nothing
With backward shoes and princess dresses, I’m doing myself in lots of messes,
When bedtime comes I’ll sing ‘Oh Hallelujah’
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

Hallelujah, I’m going to bed!
