Have you been looking for an easy way to clean your screen doors? Let us show you how to transform your screen in a few easy steps AND with limited muscle power.
Between the new house builds in my neighbourhood and coming out the other side of winter, I was shocked at just how much dirt and grime gets caught inside the new security mesh doors.
Earlier this year we surprised many of you with 13 clever uses for WD-40 and I’ve since put the magical-does-everything spray to the test myself. Ready to seize the day and get your screen door clean? It’s REALLY easy (and surprisingly quick) – watch the video below or scroll down to read how to clean a screen door easily.

How to clean screen doors using WD-40Â
Firstly, ensure you shut your main door or you’ll end up with all the dust going inside. And we know you don’t need that!
1. BRUSH IT
Take a broom and give the screen door a really good brush and sweep to move the dirt and debris off the wire mesh.
2. SCRUB IT
For stubborn debris (bugs, bird poop and unidentifiable matter), give those areas a quick scrub with a scrubbing brush and soapy water to free them from the screen.
3. SQUIRT IT
The first of the most satisfying steps, blasting your screen door with a jet hose spray as you watch the dirt run out is a new level of happiness. Just do not forget to shut your main door behind it first or this will end in a soggy disaster. Move from the top to the bottom of the door with the hose spray. Slam the door a few times to help shake out the water and wait for the mesh to dry (you can use a fluffy towel to speed up the drying time).
4. POLISH & PROTECTÂ
Grab a can of WD-40 (or head to your local supermarket and buy a new can for just $7!) and grab yourself a clean cloth. This step is the true transformation of renewing the look of screen mesh without replacing it, taking it from drab to fab.
Spray the cleaning cloth with WD-40 and rub it over the security door mesh to give it a polish and buff. You’ll be amazed at just how easily your screen door looks like a brand-new one. AMAZING.
4. SMUG LOOKS AWAITÂ
It’s super easy to feel smug about this easy clean. Just check out the before and after!
