Hemco Industries are issuing a Child Restraint Tether Extension Strap Recall as the metal snap hook on the tether extension strap may deform under load increasing the risk of injury.

product 1, model 27#300 batch numbers 0100, 0111, and 0264
product 2, model 1781164 batch number 0221

What are the defects?

The metal snap hook on the Tether Extension strap may deform under load (as may be experienced in a collision). This is due to incorrect hardening of the metal parts.

What are the hazards?

If the metal snap hook deforms in the event of a collision, the performance of the car restraint may be reduced, increasing the risk of injury to the child.

What should consumers do?

The Tether Extension strap should be replaced as soon as possible. Consumers should check the batch number on the strap (number is on a white label underneath the label marked WARNING) and if affected, contact Hemco on 1300 065 057 to arrange a replacement Tether Extension strap.
