There’s a Lamington Burger and We’re Loving It. Kind Of.

Move over Rundle Mall balls, Glenelg tram and Balfours frog cakes, Adelaide has a NEW tourist attraction for Australia Day. A lamington burger to be precise. Mmmmmm diabetes has never looked so good!

A sweet and savoury fusion, Adelaide cafe Chuck Wagon has created the delicious (debatable) stacked monstrosity, aptly named the Lamington Burger just in time for Australia Day this weekend. What a time to be alive guys.

Not convinced of its deliciousness?  You’ll find a stack of double beef burgers, double cheese and double bacon all on a sesame seed bun chocolate lamington because #Straya.

The lamington burger – not your average burger

Obviously. I mean there’s no beetroot or pineapple ring to be seen for miles. But here’s lamingtons. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi! Oi! Oi!

Aussies LOVE a burger and Chuck Wagon’s social pages at Facebook and Instagram have positively LIT UP in debate over the burger. One thing you can take away from the social commentary is that if you have cholesterol issues, perhaps walk away from this one. However, for fitness peeps looking for a cheat meal – the lamington burger could well be some kind of greasy yet spongy Utopia.

Is a burger the right place for lamingtons?

And I’m really not sure about this at all. You could potentially deconstruct it and save your lamingtons for a sweet burger chaser, but then you’re left with no dry zone for fingers to get that beast to your mouth. So the lamingtons stay for sandwiching purposes.

If you’re carb-loading for a HUGE Australia Day weekend, the lamington burger could be just what’s needed to line the stomach. And if it’s an indulgent weekend you’ve had, well, this meal on the way home could tip you over the edge. Let’s be frank, it could go either way.

So the only question left to ponder is do we ask for sauce or jam? SO CONFUSED.

Man up – try the lamington burger for yourself!

So of course, if you happen to be in Adelaide this week, do call in to Chuck Wagon and have a crack at the limited edition Australia Day Lamington Burger. I guarantee you it’s not one you’ll forget in a hurry!

Chuck Wagon is situated at 175 O’Connell Street, North Adelaide, South Australia and 210c The Parade, Norwood, South Australia.

Don’t forget to check out our Australia Day pavlova board – ALSO features lamingtons and also VERY YUM!
