What are the ladies and gents of LaLa Land naming their kids this year? All sorts of name goodness!
Some cute, some popular, some traditional, and some outright stupid that deserve to be sent to Space (Elon, we’re looking at you here).
Behold, 31 celebrity baby names of 2020.
The quirky celebrity baby name contenders
Khai – This is the name Gigi Hadid and Zayne Malik chose for their little girl. Although they kept the name under wraps for a few months, they recently shared in on social media. I have to admit, I LOVE it.
Wednesday – Rupert Grint nearly broke the internet when he joined Instagram and gave us a glimpse of his daughter, plus her name.
Ziggy Blu – Jessica Simpson’s little sister, Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross, went for this quirky option. They already have a Jagger Snow (girl) and Bronx Mowgli (boy).
Ever Leo – Remember that gal from Glee who got everyone mad on Twitter? Her name is Lea Michelle. Anyhoo, she had a baby this year too and named him Ever Leo.
Win Harrison – Baby boy to Ciara and Russel Wilson. Who dat? I’m not too sure but their kid’s name is a show-stopper! They’ve also got a Sienna Princess and Future Zahir.
Pace – Diplo, who I’m not sure is a person or a toy, but, in any case, opted for the name Pace for his son.
X Æ A-Xii – Elon Musk and his girlfriend Grimes also went with a non-name for their kid. I think you pronounce it EX-Ash but I could be wrong here. Anyhoo, it’s Ex-Awful.
Raddix Chloe Wildflower – Another #notaname, but it’s kinda cute and she goes by the nickname Rad. Raddix is the first child of Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden.
Ella Wolf – Daughter to model Nicol Trunfio and Gary Clark Jr. I have NO idea who these people are but thought the name Ella Wolf sounded pretty badass.
Coco Knox – Not to be confused with Coco Pops, Coco Knox is the deliciously adorable daughter of Ronan Keating and wife, Storm.
Rahiti – Turia Pitts and Michael Hoskins continued the unique tradition with their second son, Rahiti, brother to Hakavai.
Tullulah – Daughter to Jesinta and Buddy Franklin. Purposely spelled wrong. Jesinta is also expecting her second child in 2021.
The traditional celebrity baby names
Jack – Jack is the name John Legend and Chrissy Teigen chose for their third child who was, sadly born sleeping earlier this month.
Betty – Betty is Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s third daughter, joining James and Ines.
Lulu and Lottie – Little Wiggles! Lachlan Gillespie and his ballerina fiance, Dana Stephensen welcomed twin girls earlier this year. What an adorable pair of names too!
Mary – Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova went with Mary for their third child’s name, joining their twins, Lucy and Nicholas.
Edward Anthony – Son to Grant Hackett and fiance Sharlene Fletcher.
The seemingly normal
Phinneas – Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake welcomed little Phinneas back in September 2020 but only recently shared his name. So cute!
Callum Michael Rebel – The former Mrs. Channing Tatum, aka Jenna Dewan is now a mum-of-two with her new partner, Steve Kazee. I believe she shares a daughter, Everly, with Channing.
Daisy Dove – Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry broke the internet with their daughter’s birth announcement, opting for a botanical name for their first child together.
Matteo and Buddy – This is kind of a cool story – these twin models (I think they’re models, might be reality TV stars), gave birth to little boys just one day apart. Nikki named her son Matteo and Brie Bella named her son Buddy Dessert. Tasty.
Lucia Marisol – Remember Ugly Betty? She is a mum now! Her little one is named Lucia Marisol. Actually, she’s been a mum for two years. She also has a son, Sebastian, but my celebrity stalking skills need some serious work.
Harper – Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough welcomed their baby girl this year as well and went with a normal name.
Oscar Hamilton – Karl’s brother, Peter and his wife, Sylvia Jeffreys’ also welcomed a baby this year – little boy Oscar.
Molly Matilda Christie – Another TV personality baby, Molly is Edwina Bartholomew’s little gal.
Willa – The first GOT baby, Willa is the daughter of Sophie Turner and her husband, Joe Jonas.
Isaac Menelik Giovanni – Model Ashley Graham welcomed a son earlier this year and opted for a totally normal first name, followed by an Ethiopian moniker that means “wise”.
The meaningful names
Lyla Maria – Arny’s granddaughter (also Chris Pratt and Katherine Swarztenagger’s daughter) was also born this year. She shares her middle name with grandma Maria Shriver.
Lyra Antarctica – Ed Sheeran’s daughter has a lovely musical (Lyra, Lyric, see??) first name followed by a weirdo middle name. But, hey, no one looks at the middle name.
Olympia Lightning – Except, perhaps, if your dad is Usain Bolt and they named you Olympia Lightning Bolt. Well played Usain. Well played.
River Pheonix – This is a touching tribute if we’ve ever seen one. Joaquin and Rooney Mara named their baby boy, River in memory of Joaquin’s brother River, who died of an overdose in 1993.
The secret babies
Of course, some celebrities like to keep us out of their lives (the horror) and NOT share their baby’s names with us. Below are just a few sneaky celebrities who have given birth without broadcasting the name.
Nicki Minaj – She gave birth to a baby boy but no mention of the name yet.
Lara and Sam Worthington – baby boy #3. Name unknown but we’re guessing it’s an R-name to match their boys, Rocket and Racer. Ryder perhaps? It fits!
We’re also awaiting the arrival of plenty more adorable babies in 2021 including Bindi Irwin’s daughter, Jon Snow aka Kit Harrington and wife Leslie Rose’s first child, Hilary Duff’s third baby and Princess Eugenie’s royal baby.
