Spare a thought this Christmas for the dance dad. He sits quietly on the sidelines of ballet, tap and hip hop class, waiting for his daughter and scrolling through the news on his phone.
After seeing all the dance dads picking up their kids, British dance studio Joco Dance hit upon a great idea. They hired photographer Filip Gierlinski to gather up the dads, do their make-up and get them dressed in costume for a Christmas dance dads calendar.
Behold the sight of hairy nobbly knees popping out under tutus. Of manly feet squished into pointe shoes. And dance make up – because we all know you NEED makeup “for the lights”.
It’s all for a good cause. The dance dad’s calendar raises money for cancer charities in the UK and it’s already smashed the fundraising target of 2000 pounds.
To their credit, the dads smashed the poses out of the park. Here’s one of our favourites. Note the incredible dramatic pout.
They rocked makeup and totally got into character.
They even wore the dance leotards.
So here’s cheers to all the dance dads out there. We salute you and hope to see more dads in tutus.
